Former Minister of Justice. Says she will vote for Macron w/o hesitation and that the real battle of ideas can take place in the assembly elections in June.

The FN currently has only two deputies in the National Assembly, and mayors in only a dozen of the country’s 36,000 communes.

Will this significantly change in June brehs? @mbewane @Liu Kang I knew they were insignificant in the National Assembly but it didnt realize their representation was nearly nonexistent (at the moment)

In all honesty numerous times I tried to explain the French political context and why Le Pen never stood a chance so I'm not surprised at all by the results. The very fact that our voting system is a 2 rounder popular vote meant that Le Pen never had a chance because :
- 1. Everybody can vote as they wanted in the 1st round without too much consequences and then vote strategically in the 2nd
- 2. FN is still demonized and voting for them is still badly seen.
- 3. Every political leaders would have called to vote against FN because of point 2.

Some past elections indeed proved that Far-right was on the rise but there are specifics and different contexts in every elections and the French one can't allow a Le Pen victory yet. Also, people making the parallel with Trump may also forget that Trump lost the popular vote by a wide margin and would have lost the elections in most countries in the world if not for the electoral college system.

Regarding Macron and his lack of party, it's truly a mystery though he seems that the center will rally behind him and moderate Socialists and Conservatives may also do so. But it's truly amazing that Macron will be the president as he was never elected anywhere, has little experience and only appeal wad that he was young and brought some fresh air in the system. From a political POV, his arrival makes no sense.

macron was created by Holland and Jouyet. They knew the PS was done. So they come up with this guy and a huge marketing barrage. Macron is the perfect continuation of the Hollande regime. It's evil and genius.

You know what...I'm not so sure of this anymore to be honest. This whole evening I've been reading on twitter and FB people saying they don't want to vote for "the banks" ( = Macron) so they won't vote on the second round. Even level-headed people, blogs, etc. While on the right I'd be shocked if a large portion of Fillon's voters didn't vote for Le Pen.

Strangely enough, Le Pen's strategy of showcasing the Front National as a "normal" party even works with its opponents : even they seem to not see the urgency to vote against her. Right now I'm quite worried that a lot of people won't vote for Macron. I sincerely hope I'm wrong though.

It might change. The next election will be open. It's not even sure that Macron will have majority in the parliament. If he doesn't he won't rule the country, the prime minster will.

Macron coalition is very big (you have utra liberal allied with communists). Can he create a solid coalition in the parliament with that. He doesn't even a party.

:mjlol: you nikkas man....soft

soft.
It's no surprise that they're dealing with this.

Analysis | Two-thirds of Americans think that the Democratic Party is out of touch with the country

But none of this means that Democrats are seen as echoing the concerns of the common man. In fact, the Democratic Party is viewed as more out of touch than either Trump or the party’s political opponents. Two-thirds of Americans think the Democrats are out of touch — including nearly half of Democrats themselves.

I'm starting to think that they're not even disingenous and they're just p*ssy.

I don't know, it has someting to do with how votes are counted and for whatever reason it's unfavorable to the FN. Never really tried to inform myself on that. I think they have more deputies at the EU level than at the national one, which is strange when one thinks about it.

Cities ruled by FN have been going bad and they've had all kinds of people leaving the party because of that (bith new and old members) but since any bad news about the FN is used by them as fuel to prove that they are poor victims of media-bashing, even that plays in their favor.

Election présidentielle 2017

Election results from the 11th arrondissement where the Bataclan attacks happened. Le Pen finished fifth with four percent of the vote.

So much for the terror attacks = automatic support for Le Pen theory.

Le Pen only got like 5 % overall in Paris, as usual. She didn't score big in any big city, which again plays to her advantage : "The multicltural intellectual elite hates her", while the "real people" vote for her.
