E-40 put out 3 albums last year. You show me 1 nikka that has major distribution that flops as much as you say E-40 does that continues to get major distribution. Obviously E-40 is recouping and staying in the black. If he didn't he would be where Chingy is now.

Feezy only does joint ventures though, he has his own imprint. So he has a lot more coming in then just some artist that signs to a subsidiary, that lies under another one and a major distributor. He's been workin' that same system for over two decades, and he knows what he's doing. These new cats don't know shyt about the business. They just wanna be in front of the camera and appear to be paid, like 50 just said recently about French. But their business model is all fukked up.

Eastside of that Motor
He's really not.

Cats see dudes in chains and on TV and swear these people are paid. The homie just shipped a ton of records and sold a very small portion of them. That means he's in heavy debt. Puff, Universal and Interscope are gonna want every single penny back from that distribution, promotion and marketing. It's safe to say that he's in a 360 deal, because that's all majors offer these days. That means they get more than half of every dollar he makes doing shows, merchandise and for features.

I'd be surprised if dude can pay his rent or mortgage a few months from now, to be perfectly honest.

nikkas on the coli talking about how celebrities ain't paid :patrice:

My Pops Forever RIP
Were his videos free?

Pretty much. Many of his videos were either Eif Rivera directed or from Dre Films. They're more or less MMG in-house guys though Eif's getting more work.

Those features didn't cost him much at all since nowadays they're all favor for a favor type of collabos. His beats, shyt, he probably wound up not spending as much since he didn't use Harry Fraud-- and thus, didn't have to clear a boatload of samples. The biggest producer he even had on his album was Mike WiLL Made It on a bonus track and Rico Love. His production probably cost more on his mixtapes. His tapes would have the guys he had on his album + Southside, Lex Luger, Fraud, etc.

How in the fukk do you people think record labels stay in business? From flopping artists show money :pachaha:

If he's signed to a 360, that's exactly how labels stay in business, by being all up in your pockets.

thats what im saying

lemme tell you bout my cuzzo

he always clowning chief keef right

so he clowns the fact he sold like 50k

so i ask him how can you say he doesnt have a fan base he sold that

he says he should have enough fans to do atleast 100k

so i ask who his favorite artist is

he say young jeezy

i ask him how many young jeezy albums he has :skip:

he says zero :skip:

so i ask him how many albums he bought in the last 5 years

he says zero :skip:

so im like wtf lol. how you kickin this record sales shyt when you dont even support ya favorite artist

imagine how many ppl have that same thought process. some rather just download

but keef doing a show in ya town

i bet he might stop by...

thats just how it is..nikkas dont buy albums
what does this story hàve to do with anything ? We know album sales are down but your ignoring all the rappers ( 2chains, ASAP ,meek , wale, Kendrick ) who sold . You made upon excuses. French underperformed
first lemme ask this...what is your bench for first week sale numbers?

ok so you said record sales = success right

so futures debut "Pluto" sold 40k

i think he is successful. do you think so?

i mean he got singles on the charts. all his singles on the album did well. from turn on the lights to magic to samn damn time to neva end

everyone wanna work with oh boy. right or wrong?

i dont know why you nikkas speak from the perspective of a label lmaooo

fukk them...

the artist makes they money doing other shyt

records dont sell unless your white
Unless your any of the new rap artists that were black and sold . Could it be fans want some semblance of actual talent
and thats truth
Anything below 100,000 for a heavily promoted album is a flop .
@everyone callin this a flop:

when the fukk is the last time u bought an album :childplease:
Kendrick , drake , nas and fallout boy .
in my opinion

its about how ya reception to the streets is

record sales dont matter like that

cause the artist still gonna eat regardless

look at gucci

if he drop an album he not sellin over 60k

less at that

but he hot in the streets

he could do a show for 10k (just a average number. im postitive he get more than that cause scooter get 15)

multiply that by 4....cause im sure he do like 4 shows a week

thats 40 racks a week.

its all about building ya fan base and makin music

I'm sure French will be fine long as he keeps turning out stuff however his album was a flop . He can be Gucci successful I guess if he keeps churning out music but he wanted to be bigger. So at the very least its a personal flop

This is all well and good but that doesn't make his album less of a flop . It just means they can recoup the lost money easier

There will be no next time with those sales bruh. They did everything to sell that album from features to beefing with Curtis. Puff has a history of distancing himself from artist once they flop. Ask Da Band and Danity Kane along with all the other ppl that flopped on Bad Boy. It hurts his brand if he stand next to a cold artist. Dude is like Don King, he'll come to the ring with the champ but will always leave with the winner of the fight. Same goes for Jay, he'll give Kendrick Lamar a feature before his own artist because Kendrick's sales came in positively.

I just looked it up and Danity Kane went platinum once and gold once with two top 10 songs. :dwillhuh: Why the hell did Diddy break them up? :patrice:

Him flopping means that the mainstream needs more lyrically talented people to sell better. We stretched the bullshyt gimmicks in rap to its very limit. Its either going to talent, or dying off altogether.

Man, I'm not past the second page but this has to be a joke hahaha. These comments cannot be serious at all hahahaha. With all the garbage that's on the radio, that's been on the radio, that's been popular over the past few years and we're talking about talent? About good music? It kinda feels like the twilight zone or some kind of inside joke

The kind of man that wants hip hop restored to where talent matters more than connections and image. I'll never :ahh::heh: when a talented artist that dropped good material flop. But when trash flops I :pachaha::cheers: because I probably won't have to hear that shytty artist nor any copycat trying to pivot off his sound and success. Does that answer your question?
:mjpls: So if no talent jeezy, Future or Wayne flops tomorrow
you'll be rejoicing?

Jeezy and Wayne both have talent. I'm not a fan of Future so if he flops I'll most certainly celebrate. You can make the case that Wayne is the most lyrical nikka that's relevant game right now. If dude was from NY his punchlines would get much more praise than they do now.
