Had to stop reading when she said that Osu were descendants of slaves.
Osu were people that became servants to the Oracles to avoid death/slavery.

She butchered the hell out of Igbo history for SJW self-flagellation points.

Igbo discuss our history of slavery all the time it's still a big source of disgrace which is why the Osu are outcasted to this day.
But she conflated the Arochukwu conspiracy with general Igbo traditional religion practices and tradition.

She made the actions of a small group of Igbos a descriptor of all Igbos.

Aro Confederacy - Wikipedia
Long Juju Slave Route of Arochukwu - Wikipedia

For anybody that cares, Arochukwu/the Aro People were to Igbo traditional religion what the Pope/Vatican are to Christianity. When somebody would do commit a crime or do something wrong they would be sent to an Oracle(religious figure) to pass judgement on them.

Punishment included things such as death and exile. But at the same time the businessmen in the area were making money selling off prisoners of war as slaves and when that wasn't enough the Oracle priests started sentencing hella people to "death/exile" but really sold them off to slavers.

Eventually the rumors of the conspiracy started to spread, and along with the British colonizers thinking Igbo traditional religion was savagery with human sacrifice/slavery, the Arochukwu realized that their power was coming to an end.

In a last ditch effort they convinced a significant amount of Igbo people to fight back against the British, but honestly now that we can look at our history in hindsight it seems like the war was less about Igbo sovereignty and more about the Aro trying to preserve their reign over Igboland.

Right Mississippi has a HUGE AADOS population -- in top 3 of Black States. It's sadly has been like that since our ancestors enslavement. And I doubt it's Black immigrants are 1% of the Black population there.

Considering most of the 70s and 80s Africans came to America and went to the South for school, in particular Jackson State, Alcorn, PV, TSU, this is far from the truth. Their current and former mayor is Lumunba. They probably have one of the strongest relationships with African countries of all US cities.

Nigeria in Jackson

What is your point?

Black people in general whether in Africa Caribbean, Latin America or the us, need to stop cultural practices that violate individual freedom and make black prople susceptible to domination

Not fully disagreeing but you know amongst the people in Africa the Igbo are probably the most globalization ready and the best ethnic entrepreneurs right? I am proud AA but the Igbos (at least in the Diaspora) are probably at least a step ahead of us in the globalization game.

I thought that the wave of African students over here in the 70s/80s either went to religious affiliated white schools.....tied to missionary groups working in Africa, the larger profile or more northern HBCUs....Howard, Lincoln (where Nkrumah went), or to schools where there were existing large populations of their countrymen in the area (like Houston)

Naw, most went to HBCUs or just schools in the South in general as it was much cheaper. When Igbos had money, we used to go to schools in the North like in the 30s and 40s. My uncle went to school here nearly 90 years ago.

My church leaders would tell me stories at Xavier (LA) how Africans could go places Blacks were not allowed to go. It was a shock to.him as he could looked like he could pass and they would not let him but he could. This was in the 50s.

I can't speak for Ghanaians, Yorubas, other West Africans or East Africans.

Most people only came to Houston as that's where their sponsor was but most came via the South for School.

60s and early 70s, Igbos to California and some in Louisiana due to Refugee status.

Late 70s and 80s, student Visa.

90s, family and sponsor

2000s, major decline, starting to see rich Africans come but dont stay.

2010s, wealthy and rich Africans who buy and own in America and stay temporarily. These be tricking on AA while married in Nigeria. These are very rare and don't mingle with the general population like that.

America been deporting Nigerians and Africans for awhile. That's why most of us like HYON. They don't give a shyt about us and never have. They never expected us to stay. We hate white supremacy. But shyt just never improved back home. Just got worse.

I'm surprised at how many people on this site had maids growing up.

Why? It's normal in developing countries. Doesn't indicate wealth at all. Plus it's dirt cheap.

We weren't all born in the US or Europe. It's a different reality.
