You a failure, I've never been proven wrong on here once I give that label.

OK....AGAIN (3X) Thanks to everybody weighing in. Special thanks to Igbos for coming in here and being candid and open about an uncomfortable topic.
Like I said before, on the internet....90% of the time or more..people WILL AVOID all discussions in topics unfavorable or unflattering to the group(s) they identify as. That's a concrete fact in my experience.
I hope everyone in this thread is as candid in future discussions of uncomfortable truths tied to their heritage(s).
Having said that ,"restavek" system in Haiti is very much like some of the arrangements described here which have drawn the most comments. It's part of a class system in Haiti that I don't condone or fully comprehend(or care to).
It( restavek) is an Inherently abusive exploitative system. Not based on lineage/heritage as some of what I've read described here...just on economic situation of the family the child comes from. Though with the history of the country, wealthier families will tend to be the mulatto descendants of the French planters. They would be more likely to be in position to bring in a house girl/restavek. From where I sit, it's a shameful reality especially for a place where a bloody revolution was fought to FREE human beings from bondage.
Shameful as it it is though, it is a reality. I think some here are tuning out the parts where you guys are describing the facts on the ground in Nigeria. The harsh realities that create situation where this is allowed or accepted. Very easy for me to condemn the system in place in Haiti, Nigeria, or elsewhere as inherently wrong(to me, it is). Much harder for me to suggest a viable alternative for the young children and adults who are doing it to survive. If there were viable alternatives, there would fewer (or no) instances of it occurring.
In developing countries....basic things such as free public education....or safety nets such as social services/public assistance either do not exist or are not accessible to all.FACTS. These child peonage systems, I guess provides the social safety net for the society.
It shouldn't have to be like this, though and I think we should be working towards the day when it's not like this..

this is facts. I'm not a big fan of these systems. When it works, it works, but it's also susceptible to exploitation. I understand the reason and the realities of the situation and why they are needed. These systems exist purely to compensate for the government's inability to provide any real level of social welfare or safety nets. some don't get how complex of a problem it is. tossing out silly ass solutions like just donate some cat in the hat books to the library or just tell the government to create free public education for all. pampered ass nikkas want to sit on a high horse declaring what's acceptable and what's not, but have no realistic alternatives for the people living this shyt day to day. goofy as hellGood Times on betamax line is funny.I ain't here for shenanigans. I just asked a simple question. Why the fukk do you infest message boards that are centered around AA culture and events but always talkin down on nikkas. I guarantee there is a message board out there dedicated to every one of you nikkas. Why come to one centered around african Americans?
Haitians is cb4 too. I don't give a fukk how many episodes of Good Times you have recorded on betamax nikka you'll never be us.

This right here is an important distinction.A lot more AA don't live in Major cities though... and running across doesn't mean "knowing" -- just saying....
List of U.S. states by African-American population - Wikipedia
Im Michigan - college towns only cause they are in school there or their parents are professors.
I was in Alabama for two weeks visiting my family. Nothing but Black (AADOS), whites and mexicans.

You nikkas haven't said shyt in this thread that can't be comprehended. I'm just not about to kiss these arrogant Nigerians asses the way you do.Good Times on betamax line is funny.
I think this thread was hovering above the level you're uncomfortable communicating at, so you're attempting to being it back down to a speed that's good for you. Which is why EVERY sentence you used in your reply has a slur in it.
Not sure what part of the country you live in, but since before your father was born African and Caribbean immigrants have been coming to this country. Those from larger metro urban areas already know and have seen this firsthand. Here in America, these Blacks folks from various backgrounds have had cultural exchanges, inter marriages, etc etc. for DECADES.
Hip hop is the most notable evidence of this cultural exchange...as Flash,Herc and bambaata are all of Caribbean descent..as are LL,Pepa,Biggie,Krs,Dougie Fresh,Heavy D,Slick Rick....Chubb Rock,Wyclef,Dove from de la soul, etc etc
anyway...the 3 founding fathers of hip hop brought caribbean influence and added that to distinctly AA elements such as "call response church songs" the "dozens" James Brown's band, southern Black preacher mannerisms/style, etc etc and helped create hip hop culture in NYC with AA,Caribbean,PR kids.
Hip hop is distinctly an American art form created HERE from different elements from the diaspora. Non AAs have contributed to the general American culture.here as well.....plays,books,films,art,politics,science,academia,media etc,etc
Was Combat Jack a cb4 for hosting a hip hop centered podcast platform?
Is Lil Wayne a cb4 for wearing Haitian flag bandanas?
Are Americans who follow Rastafari cb4?
Are AA college graduates who wear kente cloth trimming on gowns cb4?
Maybe in the world you imagine or the actual circle you run in....people come here and stay to themselves, only mingle marry
associate with people from same home country, but that's not the reality.
