word is Andrew Luck was interested in Texas too
Yeah that's not true. Texas had no chance at him. He was going to Stanford regardless. Not to mention, Texas got another 5 star QB and that SMU QB shall remain nameless.

Now the RG3 thing. That's unforgivable. He wanted to go to Texas but Mack was only recruiting him to be DB. Mack has been fukkin up for years now. He couldn't find a suitable running back for years before he got Malcolm Brown. He could have gotten Christine Michael because he also wanted to go to Texas.

Mack has to not only beat OU, but he needs to either win the conference or be in contention of a BCS bowl. If none of this happens, heads will be rolling again.

:wow:

That's borderline unforgiveable. I can see you striking out on 1 or 2 of em, but to not land any of those guys is a bad look for a program like Texas
The staff got to arrogant for their own good. shytty oline, running back and qb recruiting. They got a good QB coming in next year though.

Umm.. yeah... not happening.... Although Texas has decent pieces at every skill position minus QB, they aren't good enough. Manny Diaz is trash. Texas had the WORST statistical defense in the history of the program so you tellin me that they are going to go from that to a BCS game with the same exact players???? (In Nas voice)Negro please!!!!!! Every middle of the road program has caught up to Texas. Baylor and TCU will not be easy wins. Even embarrassed KSU won't be an easy win because KSU(even with Ron Prince) has had Mack Brown's number. Oklahoma State SHOULD beat you this season if they handle business and OU is going to OU in Dallas.

My personal prediction is 9-3. Losses to OU and OSU then Texas will drop a game to either Baylor or TCU. The rest of your schedule is winnable unless Texas s**ts in the bed against Ole Miss or lawd forbid, KSU.

Negative recruiting from other schools that Alabama has a :mjpls: policy with black quarterbacks.

Yeah they normally field a pretty solid squad. I think Ohio State was still in a state of flux when recruiting got heavy for him and by the time Urban got hired, it may have been too late...I believe Urban would have told him he could play Baseball as well just to get him on campus...

Nick wasn't having him playing both. When you add the :mjpls: clause for Alabama QBs on top of that, he made the right decision for himself.
That fukkin MJ :laff:

There's a lot of misinformation in this thread...

Texas had no chance at Winston.

Just got back from Austin and watching a UT game. The team nuked new mexico state but the status of the team is :comeon: at best. The other team was moving the ball up and down the field on em for a while, plus some fumbles and turnovers on the longhorns behalf.

Mack Brown gotta go. There is no excuse anymore. with the prestige and resources available to Texas, they should be in BCS bowls instead of 8-4 status.

Andrew Luck, RGIII, Ryan Mallett, Matt Stafford, Johnny Manziel, and now Winston are all QBs that could have been picked up by UT. And who do they have to show for it, aside from Vince Young: Skinny McCoy brothers (one who overacheived), David Ash and Garrett Gilbert :stopitslime: who was psychologically destroyed by working in UT's crap offense

The texas football program is a lamborghini stuck moving at 25 miles per hour right now.

Anyone that says Texas had a chance at Winston needs to stop talking now.

How fast did that Lamborghini go before Mack got there? UT fans overestimate their advantages. It took a superhuman performance from VY to finally get a championship. Y'all was mediocre for years before Mack got there. Part of the problem is that Texas talent is overrated. Those boys get top notch coaching and facilities and spend an inordinate amount of time working on football while in high school. A lot of them are close to maxed out when they get to college. Compare that to Florida where dudes from the Muck stay in shape by chasing rabbits and picking watermelons. Plus, they have piss poor coaching a lot of the time. They have huge upsides and really develop in college.

The state of Texas football really is odd considering the sheer amount of power and money the program has.

I don't think the talent is overrated as there are plenty of extremely good players from Texas on other teams across the nation. They need someone that can take advantage of the resources Texas has over everyone else. Mack isn't that person.

Your argument is that Texas high school players are too well coached to excel in college? :wtf:

1) im a michigan fan
2) Texas high school football is not like Florida, where kids dream of the U, FSU, UF. Or Cali, which is enormous and has kids go all over. Every kid who ever laced em up on the football-worshipping culture of friday night lights in that state of Texas wants to go to 1 place.
UT.

3) There's no job in the country better than Texas. None. For a lot of reasons.

This is a dumb argument. So out of the 1000s of HS players, you can't find five star talent? Do you know how many Texas HS alumni play in the NFL?

A skinny 175 pound DB who just became 6'1 at age 18 is "maxed out"? All those Texas QBs in the league are "maxed out"?

Compare that to Florida where dudes from the Muck stay in shape by chasing rabbits and picking watermelons.
Wow ok, if thats your argument, kids in Texas chase pickup trucks and jackrabbits.

Plus, they have piss poor coaching a lot of the time. They have huge upsides and really develop in college.

Florida has plenty of HS talent. What we even discussing that for? Who brought it up?

What does "huge upside mean?" If you are a 6'5 burner with hands of glue or a 6'1 massive space eating nose tackle you are ticketed for the league if you practice hard and develop no matter where you're from. I guess Andrew Luck and RG3 were too overcoached to have much upside when they got picked #1 and #2 overall

Mack's winning percentage is the highest at Texas in about 90 years. He won the first championship at Texas since 1970. He is the 2nd most successful coach in school history and it is not even close. This school with all of these supposed advantages has 1 title in over 40 years. The resources at Texas are vastly overrated.

I know he's been successful there. That's why he's got a lifetime job and paycheck.

They are still easily the highest earning program in the nation. Seem like that could be put to use to field a better product.
