Never ate at a Jamaican place, tbh never ate at a Caribbean or African spot except if I go to a person's house, party or event.
What's the difference between a Jamaican patty or Nigerian Meat pie?

Jamaican Patty crusts tend to thinner and the filling, if beef, is usually just ground beef. Shape wise, the patties are usually in squares.

Nigerian Meat pies look very very similar to Empanadas. The crust tends to be thicker and usually "crumbles" when bitten into, whereas Jamaican patty's crust "flakes". Nigerian Meat pie filling will usually be ground beef, some small potatoes and possibly onions and carrots. Nigerian meat pies can also come in chicken and fish varieties, but beef is the top choice.

Honestly, both of them are GOAT. Considering that many Caribbean states can trace their roots to Modern day Nigeria because of the slave trade, it's no surprise to find that the various cuisines have many similarities.

Jamaican patties come from Spanish empanadas but yes Nigerian ethnicities have influenced Jamaican culture and cuisine

Agreed. I’ve worked enough in customer service that I almost respect workers who get down to brass tacks and don’t buckle whenever the customer cops an attitude.

Granted, if a bare minimum isn’t met, I won’t be coming back, but I don’t need someone to bow to my ass because I decide to throw money their way. In fact, if it’s overeager or overenthusiastic, shyt kind of disturbs me
You'd be surprised how many people need that :francis:

It's a rookie mistake. You need to have second and third options. Mix what's left of the ackee and saltfish with half a portion of callaloo

Never had a problem with service at Caribbean restaurants.

My problem are those damn prices.:martin: 10-15 dollars for a plate of OxTail and Rice and Peas.:damn:

I can get a whole dinner for today and tomorrow from the Chiney Man for 6 bucks. :mjcry:

Yeah, but you're actually getting what you pay for. If it's still there that is :lolbron:

Lmao I was just about to make a thread on this.

Any time I go into a Jamaican spot, they stay lookin they don't wanna give a nikka food, they look at me like they don't want money!!

I thought it was because I'm African American, but I guess that's how they act.

As far as black food spots, Ethiopian customer service is the best. The usual female wait staff always smiles at me and make sure I'm always taken care of. Feels like chik-fil-a up in there and I've been to about three different ones in my area .
