Why's that?

Haitiene cuisine uses a lot of French cooking methods. Their pâtés are different from Jamaican and Nigerian patties because they are made like french pastries. The outside crust is thinly layered which is different from the traditional thick outer dough of the other patties. So these have to be made fresh every time. Plus I hate the yellow curry Jamaicans mix into their dough.

My girlfriend is Haitiene so she hip me to these. I'd never eat a frozen ass Jamaican patty ever again. They are good fresh and hot or you can leave them out at room temperature and they are just as good. Eat them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. :noah:

Are the Haitian restaurants like the Jamaican one? With the rude customer service ?

There is only one Haitiene restaurant in my city that I know. My girl's father is like an ambassador for the Haitiene consulate so when I go in I get treated like royalty. But every time I visit they are extremely gracious. And I haven't observed different treatment directed at the other guest.

I've been to rude Jamaican spots all up and through african-american neighborhoods so I don't patronize their businesses these days. I simply don't have any tolerance for rude businesses thinking they can get away with horrible customer service just because they're in a black neighborhood.

I've been going to this white owned jerk spot and don't have any issues, food is made fresh, and ain't got to worry about receiving half frozen patties and then when I say something about it the staff copping an attitude. The food isn't the most authentic but I'm fine with the trade-off.

Nigerian patties are ok. I don't like the fact that they combine their minced meat with vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and peas. Seems like filler to me.

aican places are rude more often than not.

And I hate how cheap they are with oxtail. Especially when you WATCH them make your plate. And you see them purposely try to skip over the pieces with a lot of meat, to give you the scrawny ones:stopitslime:
:russ:

They basically be doing a version of this but with food.

Lmao I was just about to make a thread on this.

Any time I go into a Jamaican spot, they stay lookin they don't wanna give a nikka food, they look at me like they don't want money!!

I thought it was because I'm African American, but I guess that's how they act.

Service is different if they are operating in white areas. Same with these Arab and Korean shops. We stay letting these foreigners disrepect us in our own neighborhoods. I don’t give af because we the same color you think I’m obligated to you. Foh. You disrespecting me on the same block my great-grandfather built a church in 1910 to help southern migrants escaping the sharecropping lifestyle get adjusted to living in the city. That’s how far our roots go back and you think we going to be with this shyt. Nah, we off that.

If you can actually make it out there, I'd say those are probably the best Haitian patties in nyc. Their entire menu is in English and Kreyol, pretty much everyone there speaks English.

I've purchased fresh patties, threw em and reheated them many times, still tasted just fine, never had the frozen ones they have in their fridges.

I don't know about ordering them online and having them delivered. Sounds risky like how can anyone guarantee it will stay the proper temp during travel? :jbhmm: Maybe that's why shipping is so high.
