It's one thing for internet goofies not knowing who Dilla is, which one of the greatest producers in hip hop history.

But for an actual person in the industry AND being from the Midwest, it is inexcusable.

Dilla and Common worked together and had great chemistry. That's Detroit and Chicago right there. And for white ppl to have to put a Black person up on game about who Dilla is smh.

People can come in here making all the excuses they want. Idgaf

Who’s gives a fukk if he don’t know who Dilla and Madlib are? They are not household names. I guess it’s never enough material to be fake outraged about. Most of this board would not be able to tell you one Dilla and one madlib song. I actually bought Dilla and Madlib CD’s back in the day and I don’t give one flying fukk if G herbo or anyone else dosen’t know who they are.

Not really surprising. A lot of hood nikkas his age and younger wouldn’t know who they are

G Herbo wasn’t no damn hip hop head. He listened to the music that was on BET/radio and played in his hood growing up
This has nothing to do with him being hood

Most rap fans don’t know who these people. I sure as hell don’t

This is rap, it isn’t jazz or soul or sumn where the current crop get inspiration and guidance to an extent from the luminaries and legends music and shhit. It’s rap, shhit ain’t based on talent like that, 85% of this shhit is your gimmick and coolness to the kids, especially in Herbo’s type lane.

It’s not a travesty he doesn’t know about them, he’s young and a drillin and killin guy, that’s his only real appeal and why he’s here, 🤷🏽‍♂️. Who’s the cool nigs and the shooters and killers and shhit out there that’s lit? I promise you he knows all about them, that’s where he was drawing inspiration from. That’s just how it is, 🤷🏽‍♂️

This as sad as it may be to some it’s the truth. I’ve had homies look at me like nikka please when I said Volume 2 is one of my all time favorite albums. I’ve seen Dilla around Detroit spots numerous times and there wasn’t ever any fan fair. Oddly enough I’ve never seen him in a spot that would appreciate him. Outside of a small group of a generation or two of Detroit Hip Hop, all the love came from elsewhere and more so after his passing unfortunately.
