Herb is a street dude, that’s not the type of rap he was listening to. Lupe is from his city and I’m sure he wouldn’t be able to name three of his songs

It's one thing for internet goofies not knowing who Dilla is, which one of the greatest producers in hip hop history.

But for an actual person in the industry AND being from the Midwest, it is inexcusable.

Dilla and Common worked together and had great chemistry. That's Detroit and Chicago right there. And for white ppl to have to put a Black person up on game about who Dilla is smh.

People can come in here making all the excuses they want. Idgaf

Drill and any derivative of bop is not hiphop.

It is house.

Lupe not in hiphop like that either.

Dude is just the alternative house rapper.
that makes alternative u2 big budget selliut rap music.
to throw dem peoples off his trail.
Lupe never spit nowhere.
Lupe failed these same type of questions.
At least herbo was more diplomatic about it.

Who’s gives a fukk if he don’t know who Dilla and Madlib are? They are not household names. I guess it’s never enough material to be fake outraged about. Most of this board would not be able to tell you one Dilla and one madlib song. I actually bought Dilla and Madlib CD’s back in the day and I don’t give one flying fukk if G herbo or anyone else dosen’t know who they are.

It’s reflective of a wider issue of these dudes being ignorant. How can you be a rapper from Chicago and not know of one of the most prominent producers from the Midwest who worked with one of the most prominent rappers from Chicago?

Even if he wasn’t listening to it, for him to have no idea who Dilla was is wild.

Majority of these dudes are just hustlers trying to get the bag any which way they can

They not invested into hip hop as a historian or trying to make it a long run

It’s let me get this quick dollar as soon as I can

That’s not really a good excuse either. Biggie and 50 Cent were massively motivated by getting the bag yet were also very knowledgeable about Hip Hop.
