i mean, it's pretty clear basketball & football are more "in" with the younger generation than baseball.

Think about how many commercials you see with NBA players, with NFL players.....with baseball players, not so much

Some of you don't understand the concept of local television contracts. That's where the money is. Some of these teams are making ridiculous money off those. Baseball is a sport now where viewers will watch the local team. It's regional. It should be national but they've done a shytty job of promoting their stars.

Anyway, I don't see the local TV deals drying up soon so they will continue to make a ton of money.

Heaven on Earth
STILL WHERE ARE THEY GETTING ALL THIS MONEY FROM

Do you know anyone that watches baseball or goes to the games?

Probably not

Do you know anyone that owns a MLB fitted or snap back?

Probably so

I talked to Chris Dimino who works for the Braves about this before...MLB has been caking off of urban culture without us actually supporting the on field product for years now..

Crips and Bloods wearing Royals, Rockies or Cardinals gear unwittingly helped feed the machine..

Lombardi Trophies in Allen Park
I remember when the Yankees n 'Sawx' were dominating, and pundits and fans would scream endlessly that they, and joe public, were sick of big market organization dominance, and were insistent that spreading out the success to small market squads was crucial. They would often use the Royals specifically as a team that was a victim of the harsh cruelty that was the MLB.

Welp, here here are. The Yankees havent been relevant in years, and the playoffs have been littered with small and mid market teams for a minute, with the cherished Royals now in the world series. Conspicuous by their absence are those that whined for over a decade that this sort of market diversity in the playoffs was all they wanted to see. Those viewers who were supposedly so turned off by the yankees, and were waiting on the Royals to propel baseball to new viewership heights are nowhere to be found.

I turned off game 1 to play The Show on PS4. I need to get my CF to the majors

Giants aren't a much watch it's a diff era the only teams I can see seriously being a huge ratings draw are the Cubs or Dodgers vs Yankees. Red Sox got 3 rings in 10 years that "Red Sox Nation" shyt is played out it is what it is. NBA lucky the teams that are supposed to be good make it every year. You know that jew Stern was shytting bricks 2 years ago when a potential Pacers/Grizzles final or Pacers/Spurs final could of popped off. Bet 70 percent of the Coli would've duck that final too even with the loyal NBA stans that pollute the Coliseum daliy or so they claim.:sas2:
Breh a zbo finals game of him bullying toy hibbert and a potential west/zbo brawl would do numbers

nikkas forget zbo vs blake was the first playoff thread we had on the coli

MLB Struggling To Attract One Key Demographic

Fresh off a thrilling World Series in which TV ratings were up from last year, not everything is look good for Major League Baseball.

One key demographic -- children ages 6 to 17 -- is conspicuously losing interest in the sport. According to the Wall Street Journal, kids accounted for 4.3 percent of the average audience for the ALCS and NLCS this year, down from 7.4 percent one decade ago. Kids made up about 4.6 percent of the World Series audience. That figure is lower than the number of kids in the 6-17 range who watch the NFL, NBA, NHL and the English Premier League.

Making the situation more troublesome for MLB is that fewer kids are playing Little League. Matthew Futterman of the Wall Street Journal notes that 2.1 million children played Little League baseball last year, down from 2.6 million in 1997.

The problem with the national pastime isn't just that it's past bedtime. More likely it is that baseball is slower and less action-packed than most other sports.

There is at least one positive sign for baseball. Bob Bowman, chief executive of MLB Advanced Media, told the Wall Street Journal that fans downloaded 10 million copies of MLB.com's mobile app this season. That's an increase of 3.3 million from last season. Many of those downloads are likely coming from kids.

"We know that with kids today, that is the best way to reach them," Bowman said. "And in some cases that's the only way to reach them."

Still, this downward trend feels ominous for many baseball enthusiasts. If fewer kids are following the sport now, what will viewership be like in 10, 20, 30 and 40 years?

Ratings are down because of the no name Royals. The Giants have had almost 350 consecutive sold out home games. So we definitely support the team out here.
