There are number of factors, some I'll elaborate on in another thread. But for this thread, I wanna focus on how the free games have ruined our desires.

back during the wii/ps/360 era modding became more widespread popular and I was able to have every game on every system that mattered :ld: Having access to all games made it hard to really enjoy any game. If you never been in that position, think about cable TV channels and how there's nothing on TV even tho there's always something on. Too many options makes it hard to commit to something... If you into downloading movies, you have a ton of movies you ain't never seen.. Same issue here. I have a backlog of just current Gen games without the free stuff. On Xbox they give 4 free games a month which is a game a week average... Because of all of these options + the free cell phone games that also take up time when you're out and about. I think I'm a little gamed out. I just realized I have a backlog on my damn cell phone :snoop:

All the games you grew up on.. In today's climate? If street fighter 2 came out today for the first time and it was a $20 arcade title most of us would not cop it is all I'm saying :hula: Think about it...

Been through it, here's what you do.

1) Take a break
2) Play the games on your backlog if you have to. If they don't grab you within 30 minutes of play them, drop them. It's simple.
3) Be more selective of the games you play. If you been gaming for 20+ years, you don't need to play every game that comes out. Do you really need to play open world game #24 or mp FPS #31? No.
4) Play shorter and more tightly designed games like Doom or Hitman. The overall quality of them is higher than longer games, you'll actually to finish them.
5) Try Overwatch

I just take a break from gaming and get into film/tv real hard. Then in a month, I'm back to gaming hardcore. I can't play games 4-5 hours a day like I used to. I'm selective with my gaming. When a game I really like comes out, it takes away all my free time, and I play it until I beat it (the latest Witcher 3 expansion for example), but when I got other less anticipated games, I wait it out. I used to game every day, all day. But I'm an adult now, with adult responsibilities, and only play games I'm really into. I'll buy a shytload of games (I'm at like 1200-1300 games total), but I'll only hardcore play the games that I really like. I have a humongous collection, but that just to give me options. Very few games hold my attention for more than an hour or so. But, once I'm hooked, I play the shyt outta the game.

I still haven't beaten UC4, but I beat and did everything in Fallout 4 and Witcher 3. It's just what I feel in the mood for. I have enough games to last a lifetime. I like having the options, but I'd be lying to myself if I said I played every game I bought. If you don't catch my attention in 1-2 hours, it's bushes status. :manny:

It's weird being an adult and being able to buy whatever the fukk you want. You have so many game at your fingertips, but only have limited time to play them.

But anyway, when I get bored with gaming, I move on to TV and film. Inevitably, I get the gaming itch again and play like crazy. It's like music. I'll listen to hip-hop for a month straight, and then get tired of it. I'll move on to electronica or extreme metal for a month after that, and, inevitably I'll want some hip-hop again.

Taking breaks from media is a good thing :obama:

Honestly this is a you problem and I don't think this problem is pervasive among gamers

There's really no reason to have an immense backlog because it's not like games sell out forever like Jordans and the longer you wait to play them the less money the game is

Modding is so niche that it's pointless to even discuss the effects of it at all

I been going through this for the longest. I got Farcry 4, Dragon Age, Batman, Halo 5, MGS V, and a few other games sitting on my XB1 and I turn it on everyday and have no desire to play them . I love my XB1 but I use it far more for media than playing games but it's me not wanting to play. I can't sit and play a game for hours on hours anymore. I get distracted with my phone or something easy now. I just finished Rise of Tomb Raider and it was a good game but I was anxious as hell for that game to end.

Cue my music

You've outgrown gaming now that the console wars are over. You needed the console wars to sustain your passion. To fuel the gift. The engine for the urge to do what i does casually, be Elite.

That urge was obliterated and once Sony crushed your fukking buildings there was nothing but ashes and Larry left for you to play with, leaving that shyt box called The One haunting your living room. I'm so sorry. Perhaps if MS hadn't made a glorified weed plate you'd have the passion you need to see a purpose in playing but how can you see a future playing on outdated hardware. How can you have a present when you're forced to play on Filth.:wow:

Sounds like you're ready to start training jujitsu
