Don't agree. Gaming is in the greatest state it's ever been IMO
That's crazy talk. The NES era will forever be king  Mario, Zelda, metroid, punch-out, mega man, metal gear, spy hunter, madd vs madd, final fantasy, dragon warrior, Dr. Mario, kid Icarus, double dribble, elevator action, bomberman, R-type, life force, double dragon II :wow: TMNT: The arcade game, adventures of lolo, Hudson's adventure island, little nemo, wizards and warriors, Ninja Gaiden, bubble bobble, kung fu, pro wrestling, Castlevania, Narc, RC-pro am, blaster master, bionic commando, Rush-n-attack, duck hunt, Hogan's Alley, Gumshoe, commando, ikari warriors, river city ransom, contra, ducktales, chip n dale rescue rangers, nes play action football (this is all off the top bruh :francis: )
Are you on Overwatch yet @PS4? You tryna run with the Coli wolves?
The next game I'm gonna commit to is We lucky few. I'm always down for some Halo 5 or battlefield 4. I got BF:Hardline but haven't played it yet. Pac man 256 is my guilty pleasure at the moment

There are number of factors, some I'll elaborate on in another thread. But for this thread, I wanna focus on how the free games have ruined our desires.

back during the wii/ps/360 era modding became more widespread popular and I was able to have every game on every system that mattered :ld: Having access to all games made it hard to really enjoy any game. If you never been in that position, think about cable TV channels and how there's nothing on TV even tho there's always something on. Too many options makes it hard to commit to something... If you into downloading movies, you have a ton of movies you ain't never seen.. Same issue here. I have a backlog of just current Gen games without the free stuff. On Xbox they give 4 free games a month which is a game a week average... Because of all of these options + the free cell phone games that also take up time when you're out and about. I think I'm a little gamed out. I just realized I have a backlog on my damn cell phone :snoop:

All the games you grew up on.. In today's climate? If street fighter 2 came out today for the first time and it was a $20 arcade title most of us would not cop it is all I'm saying :hula: Think about it...
If they bring back 2k football, my xbox will be on 80-100 more hours in a given month. Right now, its mainly used for entertainment :manny:

I miss the Sega/Nintendo era
I miss the sounds , colors , gameplay

I've had a PS4 for almost 2-3 years and still haven't had as much fun as I had as a kid

Sold my Sega Saturn with UMK3/ Nights for a PS4 and was lowkey missing it

so basically its turning into hiphop. too many free mixtapes, watering down the genre as well = games are not that hot even when they are big budget games. and their are so many games out that you have copped for nothing or a little of nothing its too many choices and non of them stand way out like that.

Being an adult and having a wife has made me less interested:yeshrug:. On my free time, I want to be social.
well actually you can be social unlike the old consoles where if you didnt have constant homies at the house or you were at their houses or you didnt have siblings. who were you gaming with? YOU and just YOU alone. no social life. But now even if you're an only child, live by yourself, no friends coming thru all the time. you can still put that headset on and get social with dudes and chicks.

Yes and No.

I get around... I have too many real life friends (no really, too many) I have a ton of online only friends. I been a member of this place for over a decade. I been a member of Xbox live for 13yrs, I got friends I never met who I been gaming with since the original Xbox playing ghost recon and splinter cell. Finding people to play with isn't a problem, what you said to end your post is a problem in general. What you say? Put that headset on to get social with dudes and chicks. Nah bruh, I couldn't word it that way because I find that anti social. I think the world has changed if you can now call hiding from the world being social as long as you have a headset on. I know you didn't say it like that, but it's still applicable :francis:

I also believe the "social"features are why games are losing their appeal. That social factor can sometimes be what you crave... Almost as much as the game itself. Some games I won't even play unless certain people online. The division is a good example. I loved every minute that I played. My crew leveled up while I was busy working. Once I was ready to resume they already jumped up 15levels. I haven't touched the game since. I'd play it right now if I wasn't about to play "inside"

That's the thing though. Its difficult to make a general statement that gaming has lost its appeal when a lot of us simply have much more going on.
What you just described supports the statement that as adults progress in life and take on more responsibilities gaming begins to be pushed on the back burner more and more.
Not even really disagreeing with you on this one though. I just think there's a little more to it.
