Sounds like Preme finally came out of the fog of the last days of Guru's physical being on this planet, and got back in his Gang Starr bag.

For those who didn't know, Preme definitely used to personally craft specific beats for artists for sale, but he always kept his best beats (his opinion at the time) for Gang Starr records. He knew Guru's pitch and what worked with his voice and types of lyrics. They were a great team together. I hope he brings in Big Shug, Freddie Foxx, Lil Dap, and Jeru in along for the ride in the studio to give us that true Gang Starr feeling

With Preme clear-headed and inspired again, we might really get that elusive 90s-styled hop hop classic this year from Gang Starr. Just like in the 90s, full album unheard, but take my money now. I'm in.
Dope info!

Also on at least one album, I believe Guru came up with the song titles before Preem did the beats, allowing Preem to come up with his interpretation. I always thought that was cool.

And Preem is also notorious for not making beats all the time. Most of the time if he’s not working on an album or a song he’s not making beats.

At least have one posse cut with Jeru, Afu, Group Home, MOP and Shug.

None of us want features unless it's gang starr family.
Yep. I fully trust Premier on this one, but my only concern is that I don’t want more features from non affiliates like Cole.

Regarding anyone that never featured on Gang Starr albums before, I’d be cool with Royce, Nas or maybe Jay. Not really trying to hear anyone else though.

Hearing this joint made me emotional. It felt good to hear Guru over a Preme beat again.

Definitely missed this duo over the past 16 years. If we could get a new album of unreleased heat, that would be crazy!

Songs incredible. Hard to explain the feeling of hearing him over Preme.

Yeah, have heard Preme say that as well. This was at least the case for Moment of Truth & The Owner, just adding more power to their work.

Shout out to DJ Step One for the real version, less Cole. No disrespect to him, but we don't need any bullshyt for this.

J Cole's verse was pretty tight. Not sure about the hate on that. I do agree about keeping the features Gang Starr family-related, and to an absolute minimum, one verse each.

IF they go outside the crew again, just hope they call up the Rebel INS (Inspectah Deck) again. Above The Clouds is classic Gang Starr.

so we got a final ATCQ album. We're getting a final Gang Starr album. What would it take to put the battery in Pete Rock & CL & Dre & Big Boi's backs?
Somebody very recently said that 3000 got a solo album almost done, quiet as kept. Let's hope.

The world could use some Outkast and Dungeon Family these days. And Pete Rock and CL would be great as well.

That's correct as well. Guru would have the song titles and Preme would craft the beats around them. Kinda explains the choices for a lot of the hooks are chopped up or sampled from other songs. Take It Personal, Just To Get A Rep, Mass Appeal, Words I Manifest, hell...Nas Is Like..... Preme would crate dig to find those older songs/lyrics to clip. They had great chemistry and a formula that produced classic music.

I think Preme missed out on a few Jay albums due to him missing deadlines to turn in his music. Time waits for no one. I know in recent years, he was building his studio and label up, but still. Let's hope we get that Gang Starr final album very soon. This single is a good start.
