Guru was best friends with Solar when he died. So while you wait for the Guru/Solar album, I am gonna enjoy this album.
You can focus on the way Guru and Premier's relationship ended, or you can focus on the fact that they were a duo for one and a half decade and were the best of friends during that period. They even lived in the same apartment. If anyone has a right to use Guru vocals it is Premier. Premier got support for this album from Guru's son, the entire Gang Starr Foundation and has approval from his family.
So if you as a self proclaimed Stan don't want to hear it, by all means do you man. But who are you really fooling here?
I'll try to get you a time-code. He's definitely talking about Suge Knight because he says that he wasn't intimidated by Suge or Suge's goons and that Suge respected him for sticking up to some goons after that infamous Source Awards in '94 or '95. He was saying that he was out west with Death Row working on Lady of Rage's album and he and Suge hit the weights when he was out there.Timefram the lifting weights with Suge?
Cause I think he's not talking about Suge Knight but Big Shug right?
I mean you can take that stance for any posthumous release by anyone. And that's totally cool and your right to do so. And maybe you don't enjoy any of Big's, Pac's, Big L's, Pun's, Dilla's, or Sean P's posthumous releases. But I don't really see how any of this is different than that. Guru and Premier had a rocky relationship near the end but that's what happens with family. Gang Starr never broke up. Guru usually did a Gang Starr release, a Baldhead Slick and Jazmatazz release, and then after touring those projects he'd get back with gang Starr. They dropped The Ownerz in 2003 and then Guru passed before they ever linked back up for another project.Nah,
Im not really interested in hearing patchworked Guru verses in 2019, irrespective if it's Premier, Solar or a whomever. Who is to say Guru wanted that?

I think there's an interesting philosophical debate to be had about releasing music from artists after they pass on, based on what you said. Who's to say they would've wanted it. But any project that's put together with love and care, involving people I'm a fan of? I'm probably going to like it if the execution is on point and those other prerequisites are met.
Everyone that was ever a part of Guru's life, as a family member or friend was either involved with this project or cosigned it. Solar is the only exception. And even then he didn't give a fukk. it all came down to the dollar bill for him. he's not out here protesting this or anything. He was using Guru all along anyways.

It's called Secrets and Escapes.
Monch is featured on it. A couple others. Production is real solid. Short listen. You might find that dope too.
