Used electric nearly my whole life. Had a good run with gas stoves. No preference really. Gas is definitely more versatile though.

I use gas now. Our house back in the 2000s nearly burned down when the power went out while my mom was cooking.

Power came back on overnight and scorched the kitchen. I'm sure they have safety measures in now to prevent that.

If the power goes out and you are using a range, oven, or cooktop, the clock will need to be set again when the power comes back on. It does not keep the settings in memory.

If you were also cooking in the oven, it will need to be turned back on, and the temperature, cook time, etc. set again.

Finally bushed my electric stove and bought a portable butane stove, I don't think I'm ever going back. What do you all prefer cooking with?

Pans heat up in seconds now with much higher temperatures. I can control the heat better and can stir fry properly with a wok. Should've did this years ago. They gotta stop putting electric stoves in houses, trash.:camby:

Induction does this better than basic electric cooktops and even gas. You just need to get the right pots.

Gas cooks better and probably cheaper but I think they’re phasing out because theres new evidence of health issues from fumes.
