Remington and Bushmaster got sued by the families of the Sandy Hook victims.
Which to me is unfair. They make firearms. They didn't tell that dude to go on a murder spree. But I know the families needed someone else to blame since the killer committed suicide.

Didn’t the gun manufacturers lobby to remove the assault weapons ban thus allowing that type of gun into circulation?

I mean if a company builds an apartment with shoddy materials, if the manufacturer knew the materials were shoddy, then they are possibly as responsible as the contractors.

He is literally passing a bill they passed.

Remember? You can sue anyone who helps someone get an abortion, even out of state. Remember that nonsense? You can even sue the uber driver who had no clue.

He is just hitting them with the same nonsense to play politics and it is a perfect play.

It's like when the church of Satan, which are really athiest, instantly apply to put Satan statues in schools the second they decide to pass some local law about christianity.

I see the move. Hes trying to make it so that the families can put class action lawsuits out there to claim that the manufacturer was liable in some way for death or injury from the fire arms.

The point is to force these companies to spend so much money on litigation that they get frustrated and start pushing for gun control *themselves*

Nah. The goal is to bankrupt the industry through lawfare. There's a loophole in PLCAA that allows for suits if the advertising pushes unsafe use. Newsom is using this to allow groups like Everytown to go after manufacturers.

"Assault weapons" aka select fire weapons are already federally restricted. What the politicians call "assault weapons" are guns with features on them that politicians don't like. Things like machine guns or any type of automatic weapon is not sold in gun stores.

Of course a company liable if they sell an unsafe product. That is not the case here.

Why would the gun manufacturer or distributor be liable if they did not break any laws? Did they make the person commit the crime?
If they produced and distributed the firearm legally what is the reason for a shooting victim to sue? This crap appeals to emotion not logic.
