All of the most popular games on every platform for the last two generations have been F2P games.

Gen Z and Gen A also don't really want to be immersed in 50 hour single player experiences when they lived their entire lives addicted to the notifications bar on their phones.

how many great 50 single player experiences even come out like that these days? how many of those require a next gen console specifically on top of that?

that's why i asked why those to measure weekly spending in the article because nothing about AAA anything lines up with that

What’s funny is the thousands of dollars people spent the last few years on GPU’s for the recent NVIDIA Blackwells to blow it all away some for a fraction of the price.

Keeping up with that is expensive man.

the vast majority of gaming consumers don't give a single fukk about the highest spec'd stuff and never will. its why im always laughing at these digital foundry online debates lol....

a 'gaming' laptop considered high end 3 years ago will hit the ground running with damn near everything out now or coming out soon. people really got zero problems playing something with raytracing off as long as its accessible otherwise.

Why wouldn't they? Everything from the Wii U back can be pirated easy.

Yes, there are some quality new releases, but they're not missing out on much if they decide to go with what's free.

Yeah it's usually a niche market that does all of that whining about graphical power. It's actually taken some of the fun out of games because they focus more on how it looks installed of if it's actually enjoyable. Then they're comparing grass at 300% zoom on top of it :mjlol:

Nintendo will be alright because they have brand loyalty like no other

Microsoft is dead in the water when it comes to hardware

Sony better rethink somethings because they are in the beginning stages of things getting spooky

It depends with the 80 dollars games. Right now for Switch 2 everything is FOMO, Early Adopters and good supply. Will see if it has legs. The switch sold like 153 million so selling 5 million should be easy work coming from that. But I don’t think the switch 2 will be as successful as the first one. With that high price and 80 dollar games. If they come out with a switch 2 lite to bring down the cost a bit it will definitely help.

Comparing to what PS5 or PS6? I don’t think the switch 2 is going to see 80 million anytime soon and by the time PS6 comes out obviously it’s going to have a 3 - 4 year lead. So yea it will beat out the PS6 but I don’t think it will beat the PS5 in sales. That’s lifetime too.
