1) They’re not going to shut the government down from January to September. That’s enough runway to protect SNAP benefits. Unless Trump has another evil tactic up his sleeves, Republicans will have to vote to extend ACA subsidies.

2) If Republicans don’t extend the subsidies, we’ll be inside of a year to the midterms, and they’ll get eaten alive.

I suspect it's really cut and dry for the consultant class like this kid and HL's own all-stars but things may be more dire for the person on snap trying to feed their family or spending all week on the phone with their landlord/mortgage broker/credit card company, and etc

It will be what it was always going to be. The republicans will be in record voting against keeping your healthcare affordable and in November voters will have to decide if that matters to them.

At no point was this shutdown going to end with dems forcing the republicans to pass them, though they should have forced them to vote on and not just a promise to.

Either way, this country will further go down the shytter as long ad we act like the voters aren’t the ones responsible for this.

That's the risk you take when working for the government, they know that and will be back paid when it opens. Yes its unfortunate but that's the cost to fight back an authoritarian government. Democrats was winning the fight, they have now lost the war and messaging. Now everyone suffers with higher health care premiums, and those who didn't get paid essentially suffered for no reason. Wasted everyone's time while embolden trump to go even harder.
