And he was a #1 pick.If Alex Smith was black he would have been out of the league by Year 4

He hasn't had much to work with breh. His o-line has been ass.nah
rebel does find single cut ups and extrapolates them as if they're the norm though...as if Geno's entire body of work hasn't been subpar.

Don't apologize. Everyone but the Jets seem to realize that fact.

Tim, you think they don't know that? We have a new GM and new coaches. They have zero attachment to Smith. Petty is the only QB on the roster who could legitimately overtake Smith, but he needs time to learn.

Top two of five comments are black people saying Geno sucks. SMH we never back our own.
Both follow my every word.
So we're supposed to defend mediocrity? The fact of the matter is dude isn't that good.

you profess your love for football outsiders who Repeat the same thing I said about Geno. Why is it now problem?
He hasn't had much to work with breh. His o-line has been ass.
Imagine geno with the o-line, receivers, and running game that mark Sanchez had.
You claim I only use cut ups to prove my point. you also say you are a believer of football outsiders. How come it's not a problem When they also say the same thing I say about Geno?what are we talking about here now

Bullshyt.Im not a believer of anything other than comparing similar players with similar first year statistics. There's a large enough sample to make a decent conclusion...obviously Im hoping Geno bucks the trend. When the games start I have no interest in rooting for anyone on the Jets to fail. Dismissing this as some sort of racial bias is lazy when I was just as critical of Sanchez or Pennington or whomever.
Football Outsiders isnt bull by any means. Its aggregate stats.
Neither are end all be all- but they provide some good context. FO is better than PFF though.

Well we have good news a bad news for Jets fans. Our projections for 2015 say the Jets this year will look a lot more like the Jets we think of them. Statistical trends and significant roster overhaul both point to the Jets reversing recent decline and once again fielding one of the best defenses in the NFL. That's the good news. But when we say the Jets are going to field a more familiar team this season we're talking about both sides of the ball. The Jets' offense is going to suck.
Last year, Smith was at or near the bottom of the league for most major passing statistics, and the Jets were at or near the bottom for all team passing metrics. Smith completed just 60% of his passes with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. His DVOA of -12.5 and his DYAR of -33 both finished 30th among the 37 QB's with at least 200 pass attempts. (Vick was even worse)
So which kind of QB is Geno Smith? Bad with potential? Or just plain bad? Unfortunately two years of poor play on Smith's resume is probably enough for us to know the answer is the latter. In his first two seasons in the league, Smith has ranked 37th and 30th in DVOA, and history tells us very few QB's who have begun their careers in similar fashion are capable of rounding into something resembling a competitive NFL starter. It's been almost 25 years since any QB other than Alex Smith developed into a quality starter after beginning his career with two seasons below replacement level and that even assumes you view Smith as a quality starter. Smith improved down the stretch, but even that improvement was just one game: an improbable Week 17 performance that came out with 14.3 yards per attempt and a perfect 158.3 rating. Without that game, even Smith's improved December still resulted in a passing DVOA of -3.4%.
