A caveat: The age-old approach really works. I was reading an article today about the youngest boy to fly an airplane. He's Chinese and only 5 years old, yet he's operating a very complicated piece of flying equipment. His father made a comment in the article saying that people baby their children too much and that the key to success is to prepare your kids for the fall and then push them over the cliff.

Continuing on the same trend, I also read a study awhile ago and put the results to the test. The research said the best way to study for exams is to take practice tests, and so I started taking them and now study more efficiently more my classes. When it comes to perfecting something, the key is to do it, recognize your mistakes and correct them the next time around. Rinse and repeat. The hardest part is recognizing and correcting your mistakes.

The problem with Geno taking this approach is the following:

1. He might not get enough games.

2. He might have too many mistakes to correct.

2. His mistakes might not be correctable.

3. Even if they are, he might not have enough time to correct them.

I think they can figure out whether or not Geno is an NFL caliber QB if they give him the full 16 games. If it's clear he has a slow release, doesn't have a feel for the pass rush, can't really read and recognize defenses; he'll end up in the bushes next to Jimmy Claussen and you draft Boyd or Bridgewater.

over/under 4 picks ?? :heh:

They'll be chanting for Matt Simms if he throws two.

Sidenote: I'ma be present to witness the birth of the Geno Smith era regardless of how long it lasts...I'ma also wear my Revis jersey but I'm trying to figure out how I can take it up and make it look like a Milliner jersey.

No need to go back to Sanchez. He's not a solution while in Geno, you're hoping to find one and move on from if he isn't.
I know ..it's not fair but that's how it should be I mean nothing good comes from Sanchez winning 7-8 games ( being generous ) or even say 3-4 ...you get a high pick but don't know anything about geno and say Boyd or bridge water kill it you don't know what to do at qb .... It's better to see if geno has promise at least and maybe use your Pick next year in another area

here's the difference though.

Troy Aikman went 1-15 but kept his job.

Peyton Manning went 3-13 but kept his job.

Geno couldn't survive doing that because of the 2 elephants in the room (really 1 in Bridgewater; if Clowney gets picked Geno would survive) Even if Geno showed flashes while losing, the fans would never let Idzik live it down if he passed up a sure thing presumably to ride with Geno

Seems like what some of you guys are looking for is boom or bust this season. Play Geno and if the team tanks and wins 3 games then you have a high pick, and if he succeeds you can move forward and build around him (as long as his "success" doesn't come with a top 5 pick)

Seems like a 7-9 or 8-8 season with Geno being no better than Sanchez/benched for Quinn or Simms or someone else off the street, is the worst case scenario. At that point you'd need to trade up for a QB or take a flyer on one of these Cousins-esque backups.

I do agree that Sanchez won't play another down for the Jets outside of a crazy emergency situation. The GM and his circle clearly want no part of him anymore, that was made pretty obvious all preaseason.

Yes. I don't see Geno making the same mistakes week in and week out that Fez made.

The victimization of Fez by the media has been incredibly unfair. We didn't ruin the next great QB. Fez wasn't good enough.
so basically you already made up your mind that you wont blame geno for the same shyt you blamed fez ? :heh: because you just KNOW he wont be the reason for your inevitable losses. I see.
