He lowkey got more playoff blemishes than Doc without the ring but never get the same criticism
He might be the worst playoff coach ever among the great coaches. 59% winning % in regular season to 43% winning % in playoffs
He talks a lot for a guy who was fired mid season twice, missed the playoffs entirely 4 times, and lost in the first round 14 times. He’s got at minimum 4 separate seasons where he lost in the first round after his team won at least 57 games (I think 1995, 1994, 1998, and 2013). 2 of those were seasons of 61+ wins and yeah he’s the first guy in the league’s history to lose in the first round as a 1 seed
. He’s also lashing out online because someone called him out for not assigning Gary Payton to guard MJ in the 1996 finals until the bulls were up 3-0 in the series. He’s making the excuse of he didn’t do it because Nate McMillan was hurt. All he knows how to do is take no responsibility for any of his failures, lash out, and blame his own players who all seem to hate him once they’re done working with him. Pretty sure every team he coached for fired him eventually and that he left none on his own terms. No coach fell off harder after game 82, and he’s still out here taking shots at Carmelo & Kenyon Martin explicitly blaming them for all the early playoff exits they had as if he didn’t lose in the first round 3 years straight after those guys moved on to the Knicks. That last nuggets team he coached had a 17 game winning streak right before the playoffs started only for Curry to smoke them in 6 games
