Lord knows I want to start paying off my debts as fast as possible but I have to get my car fixed and get a new place. I'm about 35k in the hole in total debts. I want to have my car paid off in the next 2 years. Plan on paying 5k to the principal by the beginning of next yr.

no that wont start until after i graduate and I may join the services to take advantage of the loan repayment. My debt stems from terrible spending habits and being a fukking idiot. i have credit card debt, hospital debt (400), unpaid bills (300), unpaid tuition (1600). i'm screwed because bad decision making. sometimes i just laugh at myself in wonder how i could have been so dumb and irresponsible.I feel like I'm drowning deeper and deeper. i need at least 1 other source of income to get out of this mess.

We've all made dumb and life altering decisions. Its apart of life :yeshrug:

It is important to write out a budget and stick too it. If you have disposable income left after you've paid your bills, focus on paying off one debt at a time and avoid going into further debt if you can. The military is a good option. My cousin joined straight out of high school. She's finishing her BA in Health Science and will be debt free.

that 5,500 dollars a school year in subsized/unsubsidized loans :why:

Gonna save up for my kids so they don't know this struggle :snoop:

if yall really want to be secure for the future invest in bonds and let that compound interest take over

:banderas:
Them shyts going to be worthless
My dad had a couple hundred dollars in bonds for me while I was a toddler. they were pennies when I finally cashed 'em out a couple years ago. One was a hundred dollar. I only got $75 out of it :to:

Due to seeing my mom being absolutely horrible with money, I just pretty much did the opposite of her & became an obsessive saver.

The only debt I really had was a student loan. It was somewhere between 14-16k. I don't really remember the exact amount, because for the longest I would just pay the minimum amount & not even want to look at it. I did that for 2 1/2 years. I eventually got a job in sales. I absolutely hated it, but zoned out, focused on maximizing my commission checks, working a lot of OT, & was able to pay it off in a year & a half at the job.

Basically what I want to add to this thread is if you want to pay off your loan extremely fast, get a sales job. It's definitely not for everyone, but it's one of those jobs where you can make a lot of money quickly

Even after I graduated college, I was stuck doing lower tier jobs for 2 1/2 years just making an hourly. There's no way I would have been able to pay it off that fast.

Stupid question, but will one of those free credit check sites outline each and every debt you may have?

Yes and no , I've used credit karma, it will tell you if you owe money and the amount but sometimes it will not say who you owe it too so you might have to do some detective work
