i dont think this is true

who supports pilgrims here
I was saying you specifically.

Almost no one out here cares about the pilgrims and shyt.
Here in your OP in this sentence, it came off to me as indifferent towards the indigenous people. What exactly was the "and shyt" referring to in this sentence? You listed the pilgrims who else was involved is the "and shyt" part referring to exactly?
Enjoying the day doesnt mean that you're celebrating how the native americans were treated. You can express disdain with that without being miserable
It's nothing wrong with enjoying your day but not at the expense of others' historical misfortune. This the same logic cacs use to defend racist ideologies. "it was a long time ago no one really cares it's just history."

then it came off wrong

it was meant to read as "no one cares about the pilgrims contributions to society and laying the foundation of america"

we are all aware of the blankets with smallpox/measles and diseases brought to the indigenous people and how they were otherwise mistreated and robbed of their lands

its totally beyond my comprehension that anyone remotely respectable celebrates that aspect of the holiday but they are assuredly out there

not once has it crossed my mind to be thankful for pilgrims in this specific instance whatsoever

i respect that

if you have a circle of friends that you like being around, maybe you can set something up with them later this weekend or next year on thanksgiving and just remove yourself from obligations that youre not happy about

I'm not sure all Americans are aware of the bold. Especially with the herd mentality of getting along to go along. I think most are ignorant. I remember as a kid seeing picture books with the native Americans and pilgrims cheesing and hugged up smiling at one another.

Also something I want to add just because someone goes along with the crowd and celebrates western traditions doesn't make them more of a joyful person than someone who doesn't participate.

Education is indeed sub standard in this country so you're probably right and I take that for granted.

Its worthwhile to try and educate the unaware about those circumstances.

I was taught that very early on in my schooling so I wrongfully assumed that others had been as well

I support people opposed to the origins of the holiday in spreading awareness but I think that can be done simultaneously as enjoying the people that are important in your life

this is a good point. im also with my family year round. some people have different priorities or live far away. it is what it is

I feel you.. To some people it isn't a big deal, to some it is..Its a little history behind some, especially blacks, see it as a big deal though.. And I respect that because its truly hard to break old habits.
