this kind of behavior is at every level of the business. the brands themselves are giving some bulk amounts of shoes to a few connected people to sell, the boutiques and stores are backdooring some, and some people near the bottom are using bots to get what's left. it all produces hype for the little fish who pays the worst price and gets eaten, aka the consumer. after doing this for a while, the perceived scarcity makes people buy the next shoe quick and at top price. no more waiting for discounts like most other products.

Nike which is what they did in the instance I referred to. Given how they gave the option of "stepping down" instead of outright termination, they probably want this to go away as soon as possible.
