But to me there's a difference between chopping it up with people to find the best graffiti or food spots in the hood and going as a group guided tour. It's almost zoo like
no doubt, but is it really different than those guided tours "of the stars" and all those other tours that major cities get?
they are visiting iconic areas, NYC, LA, Chi, they are filled with them.
ppl want to be in places where they are around known and iconic things. no different than OP moving to Brooklyn from Pittsburgh.
why?
he could have went to any other city in the world but he chose NYC. because it is iconic. The music, the buildings, the culture, tv, movies, etc. everyone feels like they know so much about NY already, its no wonder ppl want to go visit and see these same places/ppl IRL.
personally, I travel a lot, and I want to go see different places. Just as much as ppl want to see landmarks and well known things, they want to see the "authentic '
insert major city/country name here' "
When ppl go to London they do it, when they go to paris, Rome, etc. they do it. Ppl are naturally curious. As someone that has been travelling around the world and has been to over 20 countries and every continent I honestly don't see what's so bad here.
anyone here ever been to Africa? did you stay in the big cities or did you want to get out a bit and see some of the smaller villages and see how all types of ppl live? Go to Mexico and stay on the resorts? nah...ppl want to get out and view the ppl, the local cultures, etc.. Go to jamaica/ yea you want to go to Kingston and check out the local shyt right? of course. Asia?? same thing.
Honestly, the only ppl here that are making a big deal are ppl that just don't get out much and realize this is what happens, especially in major cities. In every major city there are guided tours that take you around to see everything from the major landmarks to the slums, and all the ppl in between. it's human curiosity.
It's ppl that think they have some type of ownership of their "city" (again, ironic coming from a transplant) that just annoy me.
he is no different than the rest of these hipster moving to the downtown spots, living their for a year then act like they are native to the city and feel like they now somehow have some kind of right to say what goes on there.
naw, fukk that.
