Illmatic didn't go plat until after It Was Written dropped. That's not a label issue with requesting certification, the album just wasn't commercially successful.
My recollection is that 36 sold well in the year after its release. Especially after CREAM dropped.

Who from the East went multi plat post 1990 but before BIG did?

illmatic actually didnt see plat until stillmatic dropped.

Just off the strength of the work he put in on 36 chambers the purple tape

plus he has more classics than biggie. Ironman & Supreme Clientele both undisputed classics and sold well. Even though Bulletproof wallets was a failure commercially most hip hop heads deem it classic

Ghostface a much more versatile artist, he could get on any beat and smash it. Big rarely changed his flow up

nikka BIGGIE SMALLS IS THE ILLEST

Ghostface's "One" is more entertaining than any song Biggie ever made.

When Ghost drops 2 classic albums (maybe 3) this year, ya'll cats are gonna start running out of excuses for why he's not one of the Top 5 of all time. Again...I'm the biggest Biggie fan in this motherfukker, but Ghosts' 2 decade career is only matched by a couple MC's ever. Give the God his credit.

I'm not just talking lyrics and the guy i quoted didnt specify lyrics either :mindblown: . With that said, the bolded OVERALL can't see big at all. Try again, this time shoot for overall. Also It's a big daddy thing was one of the 1st 3 albums i personally owned. Doesnt change the fact that that none of his albums are as good as ready to die or life after death. Last statement applys to the bolded also. Closing statement. Biggie has more classic songs than any of the bolded.

Rhyme King don't do overall! And you're sleeping on Rakim, G Rap and Common. Especially Rakim.

We was walking around reciting "thinking of a master plan...." back when it was still hot. We had Resurrection in 94'. My least knowledge would be of kool g rap. But to think i'm some misinformed fan of hiphop is untrue. I stand by my original statement. If you wanna post up youtube links of the songs they have to counter my statement,be my guest. I'll then proceed to post biggie's classics and shut you down quick fast.

Nas, that's it. Ghost career...AND I"M TALKING STRICTLY ABOUT QUALITY LYRICS AND ALBUMS...surpasses every other MC...IN MY OPINION. Other MC's had a greater impact on the culture and sold more records but Ghost like that 5 tool outfielder that never had a 60 home run year, or batted .400 but consistently gives you 30 home runs and a .300 batting average. All-Star stats for 20 years!!!! Biggie was that unbelievable talent that had 3 mindboggling years where he hit like 55-60 homers and hit 350 but then retired due to injury.

Easy killer! I didn't call you misinformed about hip-hop (I think you meant uninformed) - but to say that Rakim's career ain't seeing BIG at all - as if its not debatable - is crazy to me. G Rap and Rakim basically fathered what hip hop became in the 90s (on the rhyming front) - Kane too - but you didn't put him on your list.

Common's had a solid 20 year career with two classic LPs. He's the weakest of the three next to BIG though. Still debatable.
