This comparison is impossible, because of the nature of B.I.G's death. We dont know how biggie would have grown, or perhaps regressed, as an artist. The fact remains that when Big died he was damn near perfect. In terms of overall quality of a rapper at his height, nobody has approached that level yet. Thats real.

The only reason he's now seen as damn near perfect is because he died. Nobody was talking about "BIG is the GOAT" when he was alive, let's be real here.
If he lived, and eventually fell off, we'd be looking at his entire legacy with completely different eyes. And he most likely would've fallen off. Saying "nah he wouldn't" would be like if 50 Cent died directly after "The Massacre" dropped. Imagine how different the perception of his career would be.
Record sales aside, the chances of BIG putting out consistently good music for 20 years, like Ghost has been doing, is slim to none. Especially with Puffy in his ear.

Ghost does songs like "I Got A Story To Tell" and "nikkaz Bleed" in his sleep. That's like asking can Stephen King write a horror story.
"Suicidal Thoughts" is cool but BIG wasn't doing anything that Scarface didn't do first.

Here's the thing: Ghost could write all those songs. Easily. If he can write about being a kid, or underwater, or talk about the sun, or get into an argument with a watch, then the range of topics BIG covers is a walk in the park. Could BIG do the same thing? I seriously doubt it. And I'm taking into account, if he didn't die. There is nothing in BIG's catalog that makes me think he's capable of "The Sun", even if he lived to be 100.

I can see a lot of people thinking that...especially wu-nerds...Big was the big bad big willy mainstream rapper that "purists" love to hate during Wu's glory days...his death kinda took all of that off of him and kept him from getting the cliche hate that Puff, Mase and Bad Boy took during their prime...but do i think that personally, nah...didn't really start digging ghost at all until after that...and to this day never caught the hype for Cuban Links

Well, his career was just starting out so of course heads weren't calling him the goat.
Yes. There are advantages and disadvantages to his untimely death, in regards to how he's viewed as an MC. Big had the advantage in going out on top and not aging, but in the negative he wasnt able to put together a full career of music. We all know this.
But my statement remains. Big was an artist whose peak hasnt been approached by a rapper since. Big was so effortlessly great at everything. His storytelling, his versatility in going from menacing to playful and not lose a step, his ability to engage with the ladies, his flawless and commanding voice, his hitmaking ability, his lyrical arraignment and cadences, his flexibility in expressing extreme pain (and making you feel it) and ultra confidence, etc, etc.
Ghost is one of the best that ever did it, and there are things that ghost does better than BIG (abstract and clever being a couple), but as a complete MC? Naw, Ghost aint close.
