You can tell whos never listened to ghost

The fact that you questioned his story telling abilities says a lot.

Big has something like the forest?

Well, his career was just starting out so of course heads weren't calling him the goat.

Yes. There are advantages and disadvantages to his untimely death, in regards to how he's viewed as an MC. Big had the advantage in going out on top and not aging, but in the negative he wasnt able to put together a full career of music. We all know this.

But my statement remains. Big was an artist whose peak hasnt been approached by a rapper since. Big was so effortlessly great at everything. His storytelling, his versatility in going from menacing to playful and not lose a step, his ability to engage with the ladies, his flawless and commanding voice, his hitmaking ability, his lyrical arraignment and cadences, his flexibility in expressing extreme pain (and making you feel it), and ultra confidence, etc, etc.

Ghost is one of the best that ever did it, and there are things that ghost does better than BIG (abstract and clever being a couple), but as a complete MC? Naw, Ghost aint close.

There is literally zero disadvantages to him dying, from a career stand point. If you die at the peak of your career it doesn't matter if you don't have much of a catalog or career, because most people will assume your peak will extend forever. This thread is full of examples of that.

:whoa: even though the question is a valid one as Big passed before he had chance to build his legacy its kinda hard to compare the two...my fav Ghostface album (Supreme Clientele) came out in what 2000...so the question should be at the time of Big's death who was the better MC

It's hard to compare, they both satisfy different appetites lyrically.

Just off pure enjoyment, I'd pick Biggie because I almost always enjoy hearing his verses, where Ghost has a few duds here and there.

What is this? The 1,000,000th "insert your favorite rapper is better than Biggie Thread". You guys will never give it up. Ghost has never even been in the discussion of Top 10 Emcees Ever. Biggie is on damn near every fan and rapper's list.

Biggie's 2 Classics >>>>>>>> Ghost 2 Classics

"Ready To Die" is better than any Ghostface album. Biggie was the better emcee which is why he connected with more fans than Ghost did cause Hip Hop fans loved the way Biggie rapped. I keep reading, "Biggie can't do this ghost record". Please. Ghost could never drop a single that everyone loved like "One More Chance" or "Hypnotize". Ghost could never switch his flow up and rock outside of New York style like Biggie did on "Going Back to Cali" or "Notorious Thugs". I think Ghost has the best Wu solo catalog but he's not as versatile as Biggie was.

This debate again is the same debate that goes on this board and many others. Why? Cause Biggie was the standard. If I had a dollar for every rap fan that wanted to compare their favorite emcee to Biggie I'd be rich. What category is Ghostface better than Biggie in? Flow? Nope. Lyrics? Most would say Big, Delivery? Nope, Sales? Nope, Storytelling? Ghost was good but Biggie is known worldwide for his descriptive stories. I mean what category? The only thing Ghost has over Biggie is he's breathing and released more albums.

Like I said who is talking about Ghost as a Top 10 Emcee? Nobody. Biggie stays in Greatest of all time discussions all the time. Biggie was crowned the King of NY during the height of Wu's popularity. Ghost was never in the discussion of King of anything and he's not even the undisputed best Wu member (Meth, Rza and Rae were more popular). This is coming from a Ghost fan who has enjoyed most of his albums but he was not a better emcee than Big. The only emcee's messing with Big from Wu was Meth cause he could go flow for flow with Big and Gza cause Lyrically he could mess with Big even though Big has him in other categories.

Lol, ghost makes you feel pain far more than big and is more natural. He also has a wider range of lyrical cadences.

Ghost has better flow and delivery than big, and is at least equal at doing stories.

Absolutely not. False. Im sorry, but Suicidal tendencies shts on All that I got is u, and never feel the same again. Ghost's voice and style is almost impossible to take serious, as you dont know whether to laugh or what during his "deep" songs. Suicidal tendencies was dead ass serious, and biggie could go from that to one more chance flawlessly.

I agree with everything that you've stated here, but the bolded is basically the best way to sum it up. Big's best [and only] two vs Ghost's best 2...Biggie wins.

By this logic Lil Wayne is better than Rakim... Thanks for settling the debate I've been having with my 12 year old niece...

I wasn't even talking about sales. I fully understand Ghost isn't really a commercial emcee even though he did jump on some club records. I was talking about how fans view the rappers. Most fans have connected with Big than Ghostface in Hip Hop.

Lol, ghost makes you feel pain far more than big and is more natural. He also has a wider range of lyrical cadences.

Debatable I think more people felt "Everyday Struggle, Juicy, Suicidal Thoughts, Miss U and Sky's the the limit" as far as "Deep/Pain/uplifting" songs from Big. I loved "All I got is You", it's a Classic but I'd again argue that more people "Felt" Big more. The problem with this debate is some of you are trying to put Ghost in the upper teir. He just didn't have that impact. That doesn't mean he didn't drop fire or isn't a good rapper cause he is. But he didn't connect on a Biggie level. And this isn't just about sales, it's about how fans view a rapper. Biggie connected to hip hop consciousness as solo emcee more than Ghost did. Now Ghost is apart of the Legendary Wu Tang so his legacy is set but we are talking about as solo emcees. Again Big's 2 Classics are better than Ghost 2 Classics.
