A Spur fan could probably answer better but from what I recall back then, the Spurs still ran more of an equal opportunity-offense and Kawhi didn't really have the offensive capabilities that he has now, so he was scoring within the offense (i think a lot of his points were heavily assisted) and only played 33mpg in the reg season, averaging 21 points on 11 shots.
He couldn't really dribble or create space like he can now. This is why KD and others were accusing him of being a "system" player back then. That probably also fueled his offseason work because he's damn near night/day different


KD really just needs to be on the floor enough to open the floor up for steph and klay...i don't expect him to really do much besides that...
On the other hand Kerr lied about Looney being out and that is just a pure fukkboy move...so for all we know KD is like 90% healthy and going to come out gunning and play 35 minutes...
