But based on their supply chain, those factories were dedicated to the failing models. If they're efficient at the factories making the vehicles that do sell, they have no reason to keep the failed ones running.

GM could damn near argue they've been doing charity in those communities if they've been running operations that lose money.

So either way, those factories would be closed and those people are shyt out of luck. It is Trump's problem if he decided to make promises about shyt he had no business doing.

When you promise shyt and when the opposite happens, just go :yeshrug:, sometimes you get blamed.
And the people could argue if it wasn't for their 13.4 billion dollar charitable contribution in 2008 aka TARP bailout, GM wouldn't even exist right now...

Stop caping for corporate Amerikkka, their all snakes that need to be beheaded...

The Arsenal
15,000 families is just the tip of the iceberg. This will have crippling effects far down the line

I would like someone to explain to me why these plants can't be converted into electric car facilities if the plan is to move in that direction anyway. I would love to see the economic justification just so I can understand exactly how inhuman the decision is
i think at this time the employees they need for their electric and autonomous projects don't live in ohio.

I'm not caping for anybody, decisions have consequences. And when the President is running around free styling policy, he's gonna be an easy mark for those corps.

you can't claim "charity" when you only stayed because of Billions of government bailout dollars.

"decisions have consequences"

like what? poor business decisions lead to billions of dollars from the government.

Why is your vitriol not towards the corporation that started this in the first place?

right. They can afford to pay tariffs when they are making cars that sell. But because they aren't making car that sell they can't afford it anymore.

So their problem is not paying tariffs, their problem is making shytty cars that no one wants. Funny how the other manufacturers are able to survive paying tariffs.

The fact that so many are trying to pin this to Trump is just providing an excuse for GM to use as a copout for a shytty business plan.

And ppl standing up for Billion dollar corporations that are taking away jobs from workers just for some political BS is pretty pathetic.
@N.J.stan

I get that, I just want someone from GM to show the hard numbers to justify building new electric facilities vs repurposing old ones.

I would venture to guess that the true reason for the shutdowns is to dump old salaries and hire fresh young cheap people
And build plants overseas
