Dont want to be bothered with a hundred happy birthday posts and what not. So my timeline is quiet as usual.. until what do i see...

@General Mills must have some sort of barber summoning powers. So I was at the Y earlier today for my daughter's swimming class when, lo and behold, I saw my ex-barber with his kid in her class.

Backstory: He cut my hair from ages 15 to 20. He too started slipping and I'd see little hairs sticking up. He just had a baby at the time so I let it slide until enough was enough and I went a Dominican barber. It was perfect. Idk what came over me (guilt? laziness?) but I haven't been to a barbershop since that day, and I now cut my own hair.

Anyway so I recognized him and he didnt as its been years (I'm 27 now) and I've grown my hair and beard out since. So he asks me, "Where do you get your haircut now? " I told him and asked if he still works at the same shop (opening up a can of worms, I know). He was wearing scrubs and said his wife is now a doctor and he works at her practice, cutting hair at his place on the side.

Been in this relationship for over 6 years.

Been through thick n thin. Good times and bad. I had strayed once in those 6 years and it was a disaster of epic proportions. Karma immediately gave me the beats.

Other than that i have been faithful. .until today.

I am starting a new wolf phase to deepen my waves so i just needed a lineup and beard lined up too. I knew my barber would be closed before i got off work today. I googled barbershops and found a black shop still open. The reviews on yelp were fantastic.


Strolled in there after work and the place was packed! but all the brehs waiting were mad patient. So i copped a seat and waited about 40 minutes.

Tall cat named Slim had that open chair for your boy. Told him what i wanted...breh proceeded to give me the freshest lineup i have ever had in my life!!!

He took his time too. Gave your boy that razor work too!

My og barber has been lazy as fukk lately. No more razor unless i ask. He used to do it off gp. lately it seems like he has been rushing through my head. My last cut it showed too. He missed a patch in the back. I noticed it that night when i was doing a brushing session.

After it was over Slim spent a good 40 minutes on my head...and said that will be 10 bucks.

I gave breh 20. he deserved it. I get in my whip.. look at myself and i look so damn good.

I dont usually post alot on fb... but i made a post that said. That lineup tho.... with a pic of my crispy hairline. Waves were cresting over my dome.


People are steady liking it... i forgot tho.. my barber is on my fb.

I had your same problem when I had hair. Had a barber for 8 years. Was so reliable. Barbershop stayed packed so bad, they started doing appointment only.

But that is the problem with some blacks, they start getting good clientèle and it starts going to their head. They get used to you and take advantage. I used to make appointments and still would have to wait 20 minutes because he would overbook. Then the cuts would be as tight as before because of talking too much or rushing.

Ended up meeting up a new barber at no other place than Tootsies. Dude did fresh cuts for about six months and then he just couldn't do anything with my hairline. Helped me transitioned to that bald era. I do miss the barbershop chats, but to be honestly staying in the barbershop for over an hour was getting old. Just get the fresh bic and go. Save mad money too.

I wouldn't worry about that situation...I'm a loyal customer like that and I always tip well, but sometimes they can take you for granted and start slacking like you said. So sometimes they need a little reminder.

Maybe give him another chance and see if he works hard to keep your business. If not switch it up.
