No, believe it or not it's actually not super easy to find German restaurants. Near my hotel there are a million Turkish and Arab restaurants, several Italian restaurants, and a few Asian restaurants.
I do want to find a German restaurant when I get the chance.

Last night was my first time really going out, but I didn't talk to any girls. I went to some cool bars and there were a lot of hot girls, but I didn't get the chance to talk to any. I'm not the type to go up to random girls (especially in another country where I don't speak the language), I need some sort of ice breaker. I do actually say that I'm from New York rather than saying "America", though. I think that's one of the few states most Europeans know about.
Going out is so cheap here if you drink beer, I spent like 15 Euros last night and got wasted.
Most of the beer here tastes pretty much the same, but it is good.
That's dope, do they have a hip hop scene/clubs? Maybe you'll find English speakers there. Maybe a Yankees cap is enough an icebreaker, can folks tell your not from there (before speaking)? Are people friendly or is it the ice cold city? Bunch of rich people or are they normal? Do people drive everywhere or easy to navigate on foot and metro?

I've never had Turkish or Arabic food outside of a doner kebab, hummus. Damn not even falafel. Do they have a street food scene? On Bourdain I saw he had a big ass schnitzel, you should find that, tho not sure if it was Berlin.

I will say, I'm personally a tad uncomfortable here knowing barely any German. It's not like Denmark or Sweden here where every young/youngish person speaks English, there have been times when I've came across people who didn't speak English. And I'm totally fine with that, it's my fault for not studying German harder.

Also, the girls here are pretty attractive.
I've lived in Germany for a year now. I haven't made it to Berlin yet but I'm surprised you haven't run into a lot of folks that speak English. I'm in a small town and almost everyone speaks it. Just keep hitting up more broads, you'll grab one eventually.

I was there in september too

I was in dresden visiting a chick

How was your experience breh?

I've been there for just 3 days now, but so far so good. It's a fun, cosmopolitan city with a great drinking culture. I like the city a lot, I do want to come back some day.

How did you like Dresden?

I believe there are some hip hop clubs, I should check one out. I feel like most people don't assume I'm a foreigner right away (since most people address me in German first), but I think a group of Americans would stand out. What's funny is that people often can't discern which English speaking country we're from by hearing me speak, one guy assumed I was from the UK.

People here range from cold to friendly, but nobody gave me bad vibes.

People range from poor (some people beg on the street) to rich. Like NYC, it seems like a mix with most people being in the middle.

It is a very urban, transit friendly city. The subway is quick and efficient, I like it.

There are definitely places to find schnitzel in Berlin, but overall it seems like German food is far outweighed by international food.

I actually haven't seen many food carts, if any at all, but there are a ton of little kebab shops. I don't think there's really any space for food trucks or carts.

Most people I've interacted with do speak English, but several have not.

What part of Germany are you in?

The level of urbanity in Berlin is impressive. Every neighborhood I've been in so far has an LES level of urbanity. I haven't seen any single family houses yet, and most of the buildings are at least 5 stories tall. Even way out by Tegel airport (like most airports, it's in the outskirts) it looked pretty urban.

When you hit Hamburg, you'll see that everybody speaks English. Lot more Africans there, too.

Yea I heard Berlin isn’t too pricey. Is this true?

This trip is just Berlin + 1 day in Hamburg

When you hit Hamburg, you'll see that everybody speaks English. Lot more Africans there, too.

It seems like most ethnically German people under 35 or so are fluent in English here, but beyond that it's a shot in the dark.

Bavaria, which is southern. I'm a 5 hour drive away from Berlin.

And German cuisine ismfukking terrible. If I go out to dinner it's at either a steakhouse, Chinese spot, or Greek.

The only German food I've had in my life was Bratwurst and Goulash, and they were good (though the latter is borrowed from Hungary I think)

But Berlin is great for someone who doesn't like German food, I'm not sure about the other cities though.
