My father hated good times because of JJs “dynamite”. He also felt like they intentionally made the “gay boy” pro black bc he was not a threat.
I grew up and was like :ohhh: damn pops

They pretty much doing the same thing today... taking the hetero black man out of the picture and replacing him with a white daddy or a gay black dude.

Yup, always trying to blame shyt on cacs and give jewish cats a pass for their shadiness.

Meanwhile Archie Bunker was acting the gotdamn fool every episode.

Yeah we know. The stereotypes and shyt they claim about us was mostly their doing. They are the ones that stripped out a working black father whose their for their children from the media in every format they could. Then start in with the bullshyt about Black fathers like theres not tons of white trailer trash b*stards out there.

fukk them

then I must be in the Twilight Zone then. :what: as many black movies and shows we have now? yes, we are afraid to cast more realistic shows in fear of being sterotypical, but we have a lot of good shows. I support as many as I can. if any of you have Brown Sugar (in conjunction with Bounce) they have some good original series. Family Time (Omar Gooding), In The Cut (Dorian Wilson), Last Call (Charles Malik Whitfield). I watch these shows as long as its nothing denigrating to a large degree, I think there are lots of good black shows out. Good Times was classic for those like me that grew up in that time, but at a point we did have to move past that.

who had it better?
did you notice that they had a tv and radio in the apt? not a lot of black folks had had those in the projects. did you notice that that jj had tickets to a isley bro concert and a brother in the first esp was taking thelma to a issac haynes concert? in those days, not a lot of black teenagers can afforded to see people like that.

yeah re-watching that as an adult was definitely cringe worthy. florida found it sacrilegious and an abomination to depict jesus christ as african? as a lil kid that pretty much flew right by me

strange episode was the one where they had that neighbor who was eating dog food when her money got low. she could afford canned dog food but not people food? was it that much cheaper in the 70s or something? odd

Do you happen to know if this was also the case with Fresh Prince and OG Auntie Viv?

To me the Fresh Prince and Aunt Viv beef was idiotic

Its understandable with Good Times and Family Matters. But Fresh Prince was made as "Will Smith's show" from the get go. That's how the producers and creators viewed the show. So Aunt Viv getting mad at the situation was unrealistic
