Some jobs are extremely safe though.

When I went into Electrical Engineering someone said it’s one of the best degrees to get because some fields are literally so in need of work they’ll hire convicted felons if you have an EE degree.
Time and the advancement of technology will definitely change that is his point

Just because it's safe now, doesn't mean it will be in the future.

A lot of jobs would have said that exact same thing just a few years ago.

Everyone in the workplace is replaceable. Don't ever think otherwise.
It’s more statements from people coping they didn’t go these routes to be honest. Like Is said, I see the same thing in investing.

All anyone can do in these jobs is keep doing their job and get paid.

I got a degree in MIS, and I've NEVER been able to cider for shyt. Never had any job in coding either. I've worked the majority of my adult life in healthcare. Not tech.
Funny enough, if you can get into healthcare’s IT dept, you’re pretty much set.

I’ve never understood this push towards FAANG. I don’t want that kind of cancerous work culture.

Hospitals pay premium too and probably are the only ones willing to onboard in this climate.

Were people really making that much?

I noticed a lot of folks online tell us their total compensation package instead of the actual base salary

Those are people usually working at FAANG companies who try to over exaggerate their salaries. By always adding in their stock option awards to show off.

This video lists the breakdown between base salary and stock options. And these tech companies layoffs so often. Who's to say they'll still be employed when stock options mature.

Tech Companies Accused of Bending H-1B Rules With Newspaper Job Listings

Maybe unrelated and I may not have all the details but I know a place that had H1B tech employee(s) and for some reason needed to post the job(s) they were already filling and would not be hiring additional. They got so many applicants they had to take the listing down. Don't know what happened but status quo remained there. Posting this for others to know one of many reasons u could get ghosted in your job search

I read companies have to do this when sponsoring that H1B employee for a green card. That's why a bunch of tech workers are now applying for these jobs to muck up the process.

Your not supposed to be able to sponsor an immigrant for a job that can be filled by a US citizen. That's why they put these job ads in newspapers hoping nobody sees them.

I’m a 25B in the Army Reserves. Got that MOS three years ago thinking of a career change.
I thought, “all I need is my sec+ and I’ll be ballin!”
:mjlit:
Three years later, I still haven’t got my sec+.
:francis:

funny thing is I don't even work in IT. I started in IT many years ago, but pivoted to informatics, so mostly data stuff. and now I technically work in patient safety.
