Why's it goofy when the money hits your fidelity account like salary?
Because salary is guaranteed, fixed cash for one.
Two, RSUs go by vesting and company performance mostly. Not guaranteed.

Counting this shyt together just inflates your base pay when the amount can swing up or down by the stock price.

IT was one of those fields that Americans didn't generally find attractive. Now its changing so expect the attacks on h1b to go through the roof

The complaints against H1Bs have been going on since before I got into the field over a decade ago. The only difference is this is the first time a politician has tried limiting the visa program. All the others increased it's use by expanding or relaxing rules.

That is a fukking lie. Over the last 30 years companies have been letting go of Americans to outsource and/or bring in cheap Indian labor. They were forcing people to train their replacements or not get severance and other foul shyt over the decades. Plenty of people applying for jobs paying good money over an Indian they can pay 3-4 times less.

We have to stop with this, "Americans won't do X work" shyt because it is completely wrong. Of course an American is not going to accept shyt wages for a job where they should be making way more. Record profits and exec bonuses but can't hire Americans and pay them a fair wage.

Now will companies pay Americans what Americans want and see those profits disappear? :jbhmm:

I doubt it. Pandora’s box has been opened

Do you really think paying Americans what they deserve will all of a sudden stop them from making money hand over fist? Fast food companies will fight to the death not to pay people here fair wages because of "costs", but set up shop majorly in Europe where there are more regulations and employee power.

Why would they do business in places that have more regulations and employee protections if they are worried about profits disappearing? :jbhmm:

It’s not about what i think. Stock prices and growth over everything has been the motto since the early 80s. You think a generation of investors will suddenly pay good money for labor over their precious dividends and growth? Remains to be seen but I don’t see it

All of that can be influenced/mandated by the government. Greed, unlike the famous movie quote is not good and profits being held in the hands of a few is not good for the health of a country.

You are absolutely right!

It’s not that Americans won’t do the work, it’s that companies keep structuring the system so they don’t have to pay fair wages to Americans. H-1Bs and outsourcing aren’t about filling jobs nobody wants, that shyt is about maximizing control and minimizing cost.

So yeah, ability isn’t the issue. Incentives are. Until the system rewards hiring and retaining U.S. talent at fair pay, companies will keep running the same playbook and both American workers and foreign workers get used as pawns in that game.

I agree. Unfortunately the people who really run shyt are greedy and will ring what they can out of this country dry before moving on to the next land of opportunity
