I want this phone to be successful, but you can see why others would think it's not worth it.

Just pulled the trigger on the Pixel XL 128GB + the protection plan...
That price with tax was nasty though.
What color?
My iPhone and my Note have 256 GBs of storage. I might have gotten a Pixel to play around with but it cost too much and it's lacking standard features like water resistance and optical imaging stabilization. Also I'm not buying an Android phone without expandable storage.
There's no reason to get a Pixel when OEMs have better offerings for less.

Keep in mind modified software too on those phones also axon is one plus 3 is Chinese owner I think and may get things a bitter cheaper the axon 7 is a as phone but the software is terrible to be honest and you can tell it's not what you'd consider stock google even the notification light is a it off.
Also what's in the pixel know will be in the s8 by February and it's 7.1 keeping a few features that won't be in other phones.
Samsung is gonna end up doing it better and selling better I really don't know the point of this phone especially using the body of a failure of the a9 which sold poorly, fingerprint sensor on the back, and basically a nexus prettied up and twice the cost the 6p is a far better deal for less.
Really don't know what google is thinking.
I think Google wants to do those things but keep the price of the phone a bit lower then Apple and the others but that's gonna be hard to do.. All those things that you mentioned would make the phone be more expensive. That's why I'm not sure if this is gonna be a worthwhile investment for Google.
