Companies on board? The president already signed sn executive order to hire experience over college degree.. Apple, Google, Facebook already said you don't need a college degree to work for them just show your skills..

The problem is a lot of kids come to Companies with degrees and can't perform..

Some people aren't made for college so I hope this is a viable alternative that can get people working quickly in this digital era and put food on the table. But it'll be an alternative only. And college will always be needed if you want to go higher in the workforce (with some exceptions).

I went through hell to get my Accounting degree but I do feel like it prepared me for the world of capitalism. Going through my major made me grow up fast. The college fun and games ended, shyt got real. Even though I'm tired of corporate, I wouldn't change anything if I could do it all over again. You might be able to learn technology in 6 months, hell it's outdated by the time you complete the program. But you gotta put the time in for Accounting, Engineering, Law, and Health.

Guarantee you no google executive will allow their kids to replace a college degree with this.

A google exec would probably have their kids getting these certificates before they graduate from high school (or the summer in between high school and college). Setting them for an even bigger advantage when they graduate from UC Berkeley with a bomb internship and a Data Analyst certification on their resume.

College is still overpriced for what you get out of it. Just look at all the people struggling to payback their student loans.

Hopefully this enables people to get a decent paying job without being saddled with crushing debt.

Google has to increase the hiring of us first for this to be effective. The current black workforce at Google is less than 5%. Whites have been getting ahead in tech jobs for decades. This is not new. Remember Edward Snowden, the guy that was hired by the CIA that gave data to foreign governments was a high school dropout. I know brothers and sisters with masters and PhD's who can't get hired by the government. Google needs to show and prove that they will hire us first for me to believe in the program.

I fukk with it Anything to disrupt the college system is good to me. The shyt is a sham. I know so many ppl with useless ass degrees. That's the one thing I fukk with these tech companies. I think for them they kind of had to do stuff like this. It'd be hypocritical of them to have degree standards when many of their founders are/were college dropouts.

They also staff some of the most talented Engineers and Business minds...from...UNIVERSITIES !

School has it's place, joe schmo off the street isn't going to waltz into googles Quantum Computing division
and work alongside PHD's and Graduate students with cutting edge understanding of the field.

You forget that companies like Google, Yahoo, Sun Microsystems, Uber, Skype etc. are all staffed up
from world class schools like Standford & Cal.

If brehs don't really know the history of Stanford,MIT, CalTech, Berkeley and so on.
They really don't understand WHAT they're saying.

Trust & Believe they're still hiring from colleges and specifically they're hiring some
of the brightest minds they can get their hands on. That's why some of these
kids can bargain for damn near six figures OUT OF THE GATE !
