graduated got my cdl class a no restrictions but havent started working yet cause florida companys trying to pay 800 dollars a week foh where can i get the 1300-1500 a week at?

You are going to need a couple years of experience, or you can get a year or so and hop on with one of the food carriers or LTL carriers where you are going to have to handle freight. Get your workout on.

When you get experience with a pretty clean record, you will have the more exclusive jobs contacting you. Have your resume on Indeed and whatever other job sites

That backing test was a bytch though :whew:

Road test was just me not being nervous

All the job opportunities I can have with this shyt. Over the road, Local, Dump Truck, Oil Fields, etc.

Well done. Hate to break it to you but you're probably gonna have to tough it out for a while. At least a year before you can really get in the door anywhere worth staying at. Some guys get lucky and network their way into a great gig within their first year but the vast majority (myself included) are relegated to mega carriers and bullshyt until you can show a year or 2 of experience with a clean record. Take the best deal you can get right now to get your experience. Talk to folks. See what's out there. Get hazmat, double/triple, and tanker. Maybe a twic card as well depending on where in FL you are and I'm sure you'll be able to get on somewhere that's worth a damn.

U gotta pay dues . Most places won't hire you without experience. The ones that will won't pay good and u just drive all day .

About to start this CDL school, is it more comfortable to do automatic or manual.

Never drove Manual before, shyt seems hard as hell to do with a big ass truck.
My school only had manuals so that's what I learned on. Maybe your school might be different but you get a restriction which isn't really a big deal cuz most trucks are auto now

Ah I see. The school I’m looking at has manual and autos. Everywhere I was reading (Reddit) kept saying places might not hire you if you have restrictions but like you’re saying, autos seem to be everywhere now so I’m going back and forth about it.

I wouldn't jump on buying or leasing a tractor now.
You need to know what to expect with that.
You also need a couple of reliable broker contacts and probably just some direct contacts with companies that you can run loads for so you will always have work when you need it.
Most of your money will be going into that truck.

Company driving can pay you what you would make as an owner operator a majority of the time. But with both you are going to need experience to make the money you would like.

Learn how to drive the manual. Learning on auto limits the types of job you can get. What if someone wants to hire you to drive dumps or something like that.

Once you learn to drive manual you will understand the truck more, when you finally get a job driving an auto truck will be like sitting on your couch.

This. Props for wanting to start out with a strategy and long-term goals but also make sure this is what you want to do before you make that decision. Learn the industry and learn as much as you can mechanically. And if you want to lease, don't sub-lease through a carrier. It's easier to get into but ultimately it's not worth it.

I co-sign about the $$$ too. You got O/O's who will brag about making 6 figures but only netted 70k for the year and stayed out 8 weeks at a time to do it.

If u wanna go ltl they are all auto and probably pay the best in the industry for a home everyday job.. I worked at Dayton and they don't even pull wiggle wagons (doubles)

Dayton doesn’t pull doubles? So do they only move 51’s & rail boxes ? I’ve seen them on the expressway but never paid any attention. But now that I think about it—- I really can say I’ve never seen them pullling anything other than a long box. Fex ex & UPS are the only ones I see pulling doubles (in some cases triples)
