I don't understand how I go from getting a raise and good annual evalutation, to placed on PIP because an email that is he say-she say.
Fam. It doesn't matter. You can build up a great reputation over several years then have it all come crumbling down in a matter of a few emails.

And quite frankly if a simple incident like that was all it took to put you on PIP then you're probably not that highly valued at your workplace.

Take this as a lesson learned in corporate America

Do you work in a right-to-work state?

You shouldn't have signed the performance plan. You should have written a rebuttal, request that it be placed in your file, and requested a meeting with HR.

Also, request to see your employee file. Contest anything that is inaccurate.

Contact the EEOC and file a grievance.

Find out if what you did/didn't do warrants a verbal warning, writeup w/action plan, or (up to) termination. Don't just assume that they are following the chain of command with their actions as it relates to your infraction.

IMO, once you start getting disciplined you need to transfer or resign once you have secured gainful employment elsewhere. Don't ever quit a job as you will not be eligible for unemployment if you should need it.

There is a lot of bs politics in Corp: You need to always fiercely protect your livelihood / reputation while simultaneously displaying professionalism, being a team player, and doing your work to the best of your ability. Document everything and always remember that you do not have any friends at work.

Yea I'm in an at will state. Tbh it all happened so fast, and I didn't want a refusal to be taken as a way to fire for refusing "help". It sucks cuz the manager is new and doesn't even know me like that. It seems she's going off the word of the AM from before, but the AM said I had improved. This all seems to be happening because the email, which I'm guessing the manager thinks reflects badly on the company, but I can make up and write emails about to ppl to. The whole thing is stupid. In my heart of hearts I genuinely don't enjoy this sort of work so I'd rather move on tbh.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Sorry for bringing this thread back to life but today is the first day I heard of a pip after meeting a fellow brehette at my company who just got placed on one after having a new boss.

I looked it up and I see nothing but negative things.

Why is a PIP even legal if mangers are using it for paper trail to fire you? Like how can you not sue if you met every goal and objective in the PIP and they still let you go?

That sounds super pointless if you ask me

It's extremely rare and they usually set the PIP such that you can't achieve the objectives (usually due to things out of your control) but I've been on one and survived so it's not impossible (depending on how much they underestimate you or overestimate the work). Just know the odds are stacked against you by design and the one thing I should've done and recommend to others who are placed on a PIP is to find a backup job and plan accordingly.

PIP = Start looking for a new job :francis:

By the time a PIP hits, they already made the determination to get you out of the paint as quickly and cleanly as possible. Nobody is going to bat for you, they're going to make life hell for you, and you are essentially on borrowed time even if you "pass" the PIP (very likely nobody is going promote somebody who has a PIP in their record).

I was looking it up and they did say one thing you have to do is reject signing one of the objecting aren’t clear and very vague. Interesting.

How did you survive yours? Cause I did research a few good scenarios where they said a PIP did help an employee improve

That’s nuts smh. They could at least tell you that themselves but would rather fake it out instead lol

99% of the time they don't want collateral damage, especially nowadays with high inflation. They just call you into a vague meeting where they'll reclaim any work supplies, and security will escort you out.

You tell some cat his job has got a month to live, he might just decide to take a choppa to work or fukk up the workplace. Happened at one spot I worked at. Dude got fired and shut down the whole production line on his way out.

PIP is basically a courtesy call/warning shot from them to you to GTFO
