Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
99% of the time they don't want collateral damage, especially nowadays with high inflation. They just call you into a vague meeting where they'll reclaim any work supplies, and security will escort you out.

You tell some cat his job has got a month to live, he might just decide to take a choppa to work or fukk up the workplace. Happened at one spot I worked at. Dude got fired and shut down the whole production line on his way out.

PIP is basically a courtesy call/warning shot from them to you to GTFO
Well that’s nuts. I told my new friend to just follow the goals and objectives and she’ll be fine. I might have to contact her again and tell her to look for a new job smh

Do you work in a right-to-work state?

You shouldn't have signed the performance plan. You should have written a rebuttal, request that it be placed in your file, and requested a meeting with HR.

Also, request to see your employee file. Contest anything that is inaccurate.

Contact the EEOC and file a grievance.
Yea I'm in an at will state.

Here's a map of states where you'll run into those at-will / right-to-work problems:

Wanna guess who runs those state legislatures? This is crazy to me because OP has literally posted, "What do we ever get from voting for Democrats?" and then ran into it in real life.

I was looking it up and they did say one thing you have to do is reject signing one of the objecting aren’t clear and very vague. Interesting.

How did you survive yours? Cause I did research a few good scenarios where they said a PIP did help an employee improve

What everyone has mentioned is true. If you're on a PIP, you've already been chosen to let go so even if you stay, that PIP can follow you around and potentially hold you back at the company.

Looking back, I truly believed I survived mine because I was much more capable than my role really allowed as it was my first role in tech so I just needed space to prove what I could do and the PIP was the jump off. At the time, I was an analyst but was capable of engineering work so immediately after doing engineering work for the PIP (that I shouldn't have been able to do; was learning Eng work on the side :youngsabo:), I found a new team that recognized my potential and fast tracked me into transitioning to an engineering role where the PIP wasn't as relevant. If it wasn't for that move into a new role, I probably wouldn't have stayed at the company long even if I got off the PIP but the role change helped I think, and I also excelled in the new role which just further validated me.

That said, the reason I was put on a PIP was some toxic stereotypical bullshyt that seems like it's straight out of the silicon valley show so that's why I didn't let the PIP shake my confidence in what I could do. I was just furious they tried to use me as the fall guy but I now understand, I was just a token with no support in that space and this is America so :yeshrug:

Alaska is very surprising. Broke the pattern, wonder if they have a different work culture out there:ohhh:

Nah its just being smart. Pips are mostly just to cover HRs ass when it comes to fair termination . Like ppl have said, once you’re on those lists you are pretty much marked for termination somewhere.

You shouldn’t be married to any job. Walking away before they fire you makes it alot easier to get another job. It becomes 1000x harder if you were terminated from the last place you worked.

Issue started when a women reported me (guess which type?), after having a friendly convo at work. Wrote an email to admin stating I didn't help her, and she didn't feel safe dealing with one of our clients (claiming I didn't assist and she felt threatened by the client). This led to my manager digging into my charts and found a few things not done.

To make a long story short, I got put on a performance improvement pan, despite getting a good anual eval and raise just 2 months ago. What should I do?

Its over...
The pip is just a grace period for you leave on your own accord...

I only know of a PIP because aparently its very normal amongst Amazon software engineers and its how they get rid of mofos who wont keep up with the crazy work demands. I had no idea it was used widely in another companies.....or was OP an Amazon employee?

Nah it is a general thing. My last job i got a PIP and it was petty bullshyt. I was going to transfer to another department (already had confirmation with the other manager) but said fukk it. In the end it worked out for me because i got a job with a extremely reduced workload and a normal working schedule. Went from working 50-60+ hours with some of them at night, to working 15-20 hours with the same pay. I should of left before that but i liked the people i worked with and got comfortable.
