70s then 90s.

Hip hop wasn’t around in the 70s LIKE THAT, but the 70s had some influence on 90s hip hop

70’s had no hip hop :camby:

It’s the 90’s, best hip hop & rnb music that’s still sampled and remade today

80’s is second

Should've made a poll. 90s.

I see everyone is saying the 70s, and it definitely was tough, but every genre was hitting in the 90s and hip-hop ain't exist in the 70s. I can't discount those facts.

Hip hop most definitely did exist in the 70s :dahell:. Thats when it was born. I get yall are probably talking about a widespread mainstream level but it still existed in the 70s and doesn't become what it did without the 70s. 70s still stands as the most influential decade on hip hop to this day as well.

I can’t speak for them but that’s what I meant. I know it existed but it wasn’t around “like that”(what I should’ve said to prevent confusion).

I’ll edit.

I know. But the 90s it's in its prime. In the 70s it was raw, people didn't quite know what it was yet. Similarly rock was out in the 40s, but it took 20-30 years for it fo hit it's prime.

80s

There was something for everyone. Rock, R&B, Hip Hop in it's purest form, House, etc.

Today's pop music still use the 80s post-disco sound as a template

plus the Trinity (MJ, Prince, Madonna) killing the charts

It’s hard to choose one decade. I think from 1984 to 2003 was the best. If I had to choose one, it would be the 90’s.

Coli full of geek weirdos who pretend to not like hip hop , but listen to teddy pendergrass or Dianna Ross & the supremes or jazz, electronic genres or Motley Crue instead :mjlol:

Foh eclectic wannabes
if you grew up in a Black household you heard 70's music :stopitslime: Either your mom or pops or your Auntie or SOMEBODY, or you heard a 70s classic in one of the many classic films that dropped in the 90's.

How are you a real hip-hop fan and never checked out of any of the jazz that got sampled ?
