I thought if you refuse to take the breathalyzer and the tests, it's an auto 1 year suspension of license. Pretty sure that's what happened to Lamar Odom.

You can refuse all field tests as well as the breathalyzer and say you want a blood test instead.

You're right that roads should be made safer in every way possible - that includes making driving exams tougher like in Europe, making sure health conditions like seizures are being reported by health care professionals, and making harsher penalties for distracted driving, which killed more people in 2013 than impaired driving. But still, driving with an ethanol level of 0.09 is not OK. Anyone that is dumb enough to drink, then knowingly risk other people's safety should be punished harshly.

One way to make roads safer is to have less drivers on the roads as well. Increase spending in public/alternative transportation :merchant: would save lives.
Wasn't there a study that said texting or talking on your cell phone while driving was equivalent to being drunk behind the wheel?
Nevertheless I agree.

It'd be funny. . . except what probably really happened is he politely informed the officers he had to urinate several times. The officers probably continually said some dumb ass shyt like, "You should have thought about that before you committed a crime." Then to feel better about their miserable lives that necessitates torturous displays of power, they denied him use of the restroom to the point of him being forced to urinate himself, rather than choosing to put his health at risk by holding his bladder.

It says he blew a 0.09. That's buzzed. That's not piss yourself wasted.

And while I'm here... immediately plead the 5th. Don't consent to any searches. Refer matters to your attorney. Crack the window. Don't make eye contact with officers because they will accuse you of looking drunk, even if you're stone cold sober. Refuse the breathalyzer and field sobriety tests.

refusing breathalyzer is an automatic one year license suspension in alot of states. but your right about the bolded. nypd accidently booked my house keys as evidence when i got bagged, and they told that same exact quote when i pointed out they messed up

Yep, people are too nice to cops. If you are buzzed when you get pulled over, they're not going to feel bad for you or go easy on you because you were overly nice and cooperative. When a cop pulls a person over, they're not looking to see how polite or compassionate a person is, they're looking for a reason to arrest them. The more cooperative people are and the more they consent to nonsense requests, the more opportunities a cop has to charge them with something.

If a cop lets a buzzed driver go free and the driver crashes into someone 5 minutes later, that officer is going to have a lot of questions to answer. They're not putting themselves at risk for someone they don't even know.
I may have benefited from being white and not living in the inner city, but I am like that Dave Chappelle joke about his white friend ask cops for help.....I was pulled over well over the limit a few times in my younger days, and every time I told the cops I had been drinking, lol and every time they let me go.
