This team needs to be torn down in the worst way even more so than the 2021 team. Even if Boone isn’t the source of their issues, he’s long overstayed his welcome. Volpe and 3rd base have to be addressed by the deadline. Torres playing shortstop in 2020 is the last time they had a ops above .700 from that position. 5 straight years they’ve gotten a sub .700 ops from shortstop now and just 2 years of good defense at the position in that span. I don’t want to hear anymore excuses. Same goes for the pitching. If Cashman doesn’t fix at least 2 of their 3 issues he shouldn’t even get to finish the season.
Also it’s worth noting that they didn’t spend the money they got back on insurance for Cole with his injury and they’ve got DJ, Rizzo, Hicks, and Stroman making a combined $48 million this year when 3 of those guys aren’t even on the roster.
