This is engagement farming. I'm not even gonna look but I guarantee you that fool has put Nas in his top 5 before on video and has never mentioned Guru.

Now...if someone reputable (ie someone who isn't constantly trying to pay their rent via engagement/clicks) said that I'd have no issue. I'd vehemently disagree obviously but hey, that's hip hop right. People gonna have different opinions.

They love content like this when it's Jay-Z getting attacked. That Pandora's box has been opened, so don't get mad when other legends are subject to the same criticism.

2025 and ppl still not reckoning with it. The more you share stuff you don't agree with/don't like/hate/etc, the more you make it successful.

The minute I saw the thread about some kid saying Jim Jones has more hits than Nas I knew it was gonna become "fukk Nas for clicks" season. Same way you see an anti-Jay thing go viral and then suddenly a bunch of anti-Jay shyt is circling. All these content "creators" are just saying whatever they know will get attention.

Why It alway end with Nas? Not Jay, huh? Not Big huh? Not anyone but Nas
It's always Jay and Big, and funnily enough it's always Nas fans leading the charge. If both those greats can be criticized, then so can Nas. It's not like it's a wild statement either. Nas doesn't have a stretch in catalog fukking with Guru's Step In The Arena to Moment of Truth run. He embodied that level of consistency that Nas was sorely missing, especially during the 00s.

This is an odd comparison Nas is a whole other generation (even tho Guru was still out)

Guru had a conversational 90s flow in the mid 80s, Guru, Rakim and Slick Rick were way ahead of they time

Guru vs Rakim would be a better match

And when people front on Jazzmatazz 4 I KNOW they didn't listen to it. solar had his "name" on it but he had nothing to do with that musically
That was Guru's swan song 9.5 outta 10 damn near classic album and everything before that is crazy solid

Guru had a solid 20 years 1987-2007 with no missteps no weak shyt I don't count anything after that

Thinking about this shyt its a LOT closer than you would think....I wouldn't be mad if anyone went with Nas or Guru

MASTA ACE is another one where it would be close his catalog is basically flawless
Nas is not a whole other generation they both define 90s New York hip hop to the core, Guru is older in age.

I was watching Live at the BBQ and Words I Manifest videos at the exact same time and that was our introduction to both artists.

Edit: you might be a tad older than me, I don’t remember the stuff he did before they added Premier to Gangstarr.

Guru is not an overall better emcee than Nas. Guru is better at being philosophical though. He pretty much raps in parables. But Nas is more versatile with his flows subject matter. Guru is only coming with that one monotone flow.
He didn’t say Guru is a better emcee than Nas, that would be crazy.

However, when talking Body Of Work, Nas’s discography is a very polarizing topic, Gangstarr has an OutKast, Kendrick quality catalog.

You just gone take Gangstarr from him?

And his solo career, meaning when he used another producer in his case, pretty much is the Jazzmatazz albums.

That’s like 6 certified classic albums.

Step In The Arena
Daily Operation
Hard to Earn
Moment of Truth
Jazzmatazz 1
Jazzmatazz 3

That Solar shyt don’t count he was 60 and washed.

That would be cheating to use the Gang Starr although they were just Guru rappin…

Jazzmatazz 3 was meh. Im
ashamed to even own that album

How in the WORLD is that cheating.

Guru is the only voice you hear on 95% of their albums and for years a lot of nikkas thought he WAS Gangstarr.

Gangstarr is just a name for him and his producer, and he had the name before Premo was added to the fold.
