The majority of them were very good at impressions and comedic timing, yet none of them hit it big except Keegan and Peele.

They only popped when doing their own thing together for a few years at that.

Jordan Peele was supposed to be on SNL for his Obama impersonation but his MadTV contract wouldn't allow it.

Peele is supposedly still mad to this day at them about that.

I could see being mad about it, but it worked out in the end for him. Kind of off topic, but I got a theory that Lorne Michael's is making it so nobody blows up from SNL and moves on like Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Michael Myers, Chris Farley(RIP), Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, etc. How many SNL cast members from the last 10-15 years have REALLY BLOWN UP? I really can't think of anyone. MAYBE Leslie Jones?

I would make the argument that "comedic movie stars" haven't meant what they did over the last 15 years.

I believe the rumors Lorne Michaels had MadTV actors blackballed. They ate off voice acting but when it comes to live action tv shows and movies none of them actors popped as much as they should have.

will sasso has been eating since mad tv ended, same with phil lamarr and alex borstein. and thats not even counting key and peele but if true i could understand. in living color did major damage to snl. mad tv came up and piled onto what they did. id be bitter as hell myself, as well as look at any other sketch show funny

he tried to. he was a voice actor on the cleveland show. maybe he took the patrice/trevor moore route and realized he didnt care for the crossover and wanted back

Her and Michael McDonald were two people who I'm surprised never went on to do bigger things after MadTV. McDonald was by far the funniest person on that show.

It's weird that most of them didn't get much, though they live pretty well. Wilson is the go-to for a lot of video game motion capture, she's frequently seen in a lot of shyt. But of all of them, Sasso not having a bigger career is crazy.
