Most of this "reorganization" happened post "independence".

• OG European Colonizer families
• Intermarriage with the locals creating a upper class/caste
• Middle Minorites - Chinese, Arabs, Jews, Lebanese, Indians (often well to do in their own countries)
• A very small contingent of native born (read as dark skinned) that get to upper middle incomes through merit
• The dark mass of people

In Asia - it's the Chinese who have historically played the role of the European Colonizer. (Though Japan was trying to colonize everything in sight at some point. )
