Nope but it feels like it’s getting closer to happening. I wonder if the fight between Ricardo and Sendo will finally push him over the edge.
Sendos head ain't gonna be right because his grandmother is ill and Ricardo just showed Miyata that there are levels with the spar. Ippo should have been back in the ring but Mashiba's sister is going to be on bullshyt, I just feel it. Ippo just needs to understand, money over bytches.

He's recovered from his fight injuries while being a second. He won't have to rely on the Dempsey roll any more and can mix up his infighting with outfighting so he won't be punch drunk anymore after fights. The current ippo would have gotten Date out of the paint.

Ricardo is a different subject though. However, I'll be 50 years old still reading about Takamura chasing ass on the beach though and sonning Aoki and Kimura while Ippo is nowhere to be found in the ring as a returned boxer.

George needs to hurry the fukk up.

It also doesn’t help that he takes extended breaks. At the same time, I don’t want his health to suffer just to do the chapters week to week. Still, I’m liking the progress these latest chapters have provided.

George has to start tying up some loose ends though.

He already said he knows how he wants it to end, meaning whatever it is for Ippo's future, it's set in stone.

Is Takamura going to get more straps in his division?
Kimura will probably never get any further than the loss to Mashiba in terms of being a champion.
Aoki is a mid-card fighter at best but he's got a steady gig making ramen and his girlfriend is a nurse so he's cool.
Itagaki is probably going to be an underachiever.
Sendo is a wild card, I do think Ricardo is going to beat him, he's going to reveal to Ippo how to beat him because they do have similar physical characteristics. Not to mention, he beat Alfredo when he knocked Ippo unconscious. Also, Sendo, in a spar though, is the only one to ever drop Ricardo.
Miyata isn't powerful enough to compete on the world stage. Skillful, yes, powerful? No.
Mashiba probably just hit his peak with the fight with Rosario.

Everyone else gets a shoulder shrug from me.

I do admit that there are a lot of moving pieces going on. I don’t know why, but something tells me that Takamura is due for a loss. In the meanwhile, I feel that Miyata can compete on the world stage as he has that counter that can change things in an instant. And he’s gotten a bit faster so I think this spar with Ricardo will level him up a bit more before his next big fight. Sendo has the most upside here as he’s gotten stronger and more ferocious so Im going to say he’ll beat Ricardo lol. I want to see Ippo vs Sendo III for the world title! Then Ippo beats Sendo and fights Miyata for his final match.

All in all, we’re right in the thick of things with great character development, exciting sparring and matches so Im hoping George can make it.

Side Note: I want to see more of Hajime No Ippo animated! Needs to happen ASAP lol.

See, I love this. Multiple takes on this. That's dope. I don't see Takamura ever losing. The only thing that slows him down is the weight cut. He needs to move up from super middleweight. He's already the greatest Japanese boxer of all time and he's the most astute boxer out of their gym. He's always the one pointing things out during the fights when they are watching them and none of his fights have ever gone the distance.

Fighting Sendo for the third time and getting an official match with Miyata is a great sendoff but Miyata has to the move up the rankings. He left for Thailand for a while and hopefully his spar with Ricardo got him improving too.

While Takumura is very observant and pretty well rounded I do see a chink in his armor. I think it’s going to take a technically sound boxer to beat him as you can’t beat him a straight up slugfest so it may be a case where you have to go in with a points mindset while establishing solid distance which is hard to do. I want to see how Takamura handles a loss as I feel like that would be some growth for the character.

Another alternative would be for Sendo to beat Ricardo and then have Miyata be the challenger for the title. Now that would be an intriguing matchup. Sendo has power but again, Miyata is an expert with counters. But as you mentioned, Miyata does have a bit of distance to cover to stand up in the world stage, he’s right there though, which makes the spar with Ricardo exciting!

Just finished reading chapter 1488. I’m so hyped about this fight between Sendo and Ricardo. I feel like this will be one of the best fights we’ve seen in awhile as they’re both in peak condition. It was also good to see Miyata, Ippo and Sendo share the same space together. The news about Mashiba was happy and sad at the same time. At least he’s alive but damn…,

In any case, I’m definitely curious on how Sendo will attack Ricardo. Ricardo has a very honed sense in the ring so Sendo has to tread carefully. Yeah, this match will be legendary :wow:
