When I see Hakeem say VERY TOUGH LEAGUE, I believe Hakeem talking about Jordan ability to deal with the physical aspect of the game and rules at the time

nikkas talking about warriors and spurs of 2013 and 2014

Them nikkas in the 90s western conference against a Vernon Maxwell and Gary Payton and playing with the rules in place at that time would struggle

The core of that spurs team all played when the game was different

Ginobili used to stay getting clotheslined

4 in 17 years is an insult now? Shaq has 4 in 19, Duncan has 5 in 19, Kobe has 5 in 20, Kareem has 6 in 20, Chamberlain has 2 in 15.

And MJ opted to quit for two years. Imagine if Lebron quit for two years in the middle of his prime :mjlol:
how many finals did Duncan go to to get 5 rings? Shaq? Kobe? how many times did Kobe have to switch teams to get 4? Duncan?

And I'm just going to point out the obvious here (well, maybe not to some), of course, Hakeem is going say MJ played in a tougher league because it's the same damn league he played in too. He's not going to come out and openly say Bron played in harsher conditions when it makes him look like less of a player and dilutes his accomplishments when he won titles in that tougher league.

When are y'all nxggas going to learn that all these players have their own agendas to uphold?
Exactly! He’d get fried too if he went against Jordan. Didn’t Dream win his titles went Jordan retired? They’d kill that man if he said anything different and he knows this.

I'll dap. But you don't think Hakeem knows more about basketball than you? If Tom Cruise said he knew more about flim than you you would take that. If Barack Obama said he knew more about politics you wouldn't say otherwise. If a crack head said he knew more about crack you wouldnt argue. so what makes you wiser than Hakeem.

I think the sentiment he is speaking to is just because you may have been a NBA player or GOAT or whatever (this applies to any title, job or position of authority) that it shouldn't be pedestalized on that alone. That just because they have said experience/position that makes them unbiased or without an agenda. In the end the statement should be taken into consideration, but ultimately an opinion and not gospel.

So they lost earlier in the playoffs instead? Is that supposed to be better :mjlol:

Bron haters logic: losing in the first round > losing in the finals
didnt say that. but when they get to the finals, they win it. Timmy was a corner 3 away from MJ's record

if u give those guys 10 finals, they getting 7 or 8

but we are supposed to be cool with just getting to the finals, clearly. consolation prizes i see

Yea the whole perfect in the finals talking point is silly when the other guy in the argument damn near went twice as many times

Bron would have went to at least a couple Finals against them 80s teams. Jordan had to transform his body to compete. Bron came in the NBA with a vets body.

Jordan is #1 still for other reasons but folks gotta let Bron enjoy his roses while he stacking up rings. The hater shyt is dumb.

That is what I find very curious and shows the programming sports media is effective at. They both have blemishes on their careers if you want to take losing into account, its just that one player the mainstream of sports and media have amensia with, because he's lauded at the pinnacle of sportsmanship and winning. I say this from the unique position of growing up and seeing Jordan play and him being my favorite player of all time, while also Lebron being my 2nd favorite player. But the main things not discussed during these "debates" is that Jordan was taking these losses on the chin before he finally got help. Now mind you he was being called "God disguised as Michael Jordan" by one of the greatest players in '86 and didnt win his 1st championship until '91. Up until that point he didnt have any real playoff advancement he didnt make it past the 2nd rd until '89.

There is a lot of context that is lost or not discussed in regards to the comparison. Both had subpar rosters initially, had to take their lumps until help arrived, because transcendental individual performances can only carry you so far, if you dont have the requisite help against the more established teams. The main difference between them is one had a more competent front office for their formative years (even though Krause was a egomanic and cheaped out in the end, even with a proven winner). Jordan didnt have the option of leaving like most free agents today, because free agency wasnt around until '88, and he reup'd in the middle of his rookie deal for at that time was a fat contract (at least for him at the time). So by the time his real free agency came around the Bulls was already a winning franchise. These are the kind of details that are missing from the context.

The problem with this assumption is not thinking those players wouldnt adapt to those times. Especially considering that is their job, so it either adapt or be out of the league or some middling team. I think if Reggie Miller could survive those times, and he was a frail off-ball gunner with a little bit of a floor game, I think most of those players could adapt afterwhile.
