Which is why I’m not pressed to trade Jalen away. We need our youth core to develop more before making drastic moves
Those youth contracts are running out, we have only a season left before extensions are going to have to start being handed out. I’m not thrilled about us being forced to pickup Jabari but luckily Banchero (who’s an all star) doesn’t exactly “look” like a future league mvp. Cade on the flip side of that draft coin is busy playing Bron ball in Motor city :pachaha:

I forgot, who did the Rockets trade away to get Chuck? They still had a chance to make it make to the Finals in 1997 if Chuck played defense

But yeah Hakeem is an elite offensive player as he is a defensive player. No one else has that distinction. On top of being an underrated passer. And his game can literally be played in any era
David Robinson was right there too/both categories/could argue was more versatile

Hm i still see him on a lot of people's top 10 lists so i wouldn't say he's necessarily underrated, maybe just not talked about as much as other top 10 players
Top ten centers of all time?

People rank him over the big five?
Jabber, Wilt, Russell, Duncan, Shaq…

If all five of those players are still in the top 10, Hakeem pushing out Jordan, Bron, Magic, Bird, or Kobe out?

Skill wise, I can see the argument. I’d put him over Wilt, Kareem, Russell and Shaq.

Career wise, he is a solid top 15. Second tier legend. Oscar, West, Malone, Dirk, KD, Barkley, Garnett, Moses Malone, Giannis level.

I’d put Curry at 11 and Dream at 12. Sorry Oscar.

Except for the fact he looked like a toddler getting sonned in head to head matchups against Hakeem.
Dave still put up numbers though, Hakeem just had a better series but didn't necessarily stop him, Hakeem had the better overall team too.

Was dominating and showing real star potential post all star break until he went down with a serious knee injury against the Kings...they had to bring out wheelchair for him. It's not looking good after watching replay. If it's a torn ACL he has a long road to recovery.

Objective question
Is Hakeem....underrated? Should he be on everyone's top 10?

Discuss :hubie:

We’re losing recipes :snoop: Top 10 is not your personal favorite, or based on just talent, or bag, or eye test. It is overall resume. Based on resume, at BEST Hakeem squeaks into the top 10. But him being an amazingly talented player is not the final criteria

It’s a point that’s lost on the new generation bc mfers are so egotistical they can’t respect anything they didn’t see or that they don’t visually prefer. Ie, Hakeem is more talented than Shaq. But it ain’t even a debate that Shaq is better all time
