I remember in Middle and HS kids would brag about being in AP or Gifted classes, I was like eff that, I stayed in regular classes never studied or did home work and made all As and Bs with little effort, took my behind to a state school for college instead of some prestigious expensive school and went to college pretty much free and it was easy, and finessed my way in to the IT industry. Like I said work smart not hard, killing yourself working aint gonna put food on the table for your fam, being smart will.

your preaching breh your preaching!!!!!

Do you work currently? IF you do look at your manager or the cats that get promoted, I can promise you they usually aren't the smartest. When it comes to life you have to make moves that put you and your assets at least risk. If you want to work in corporate america make it where others around you do all the work while you can get the glory for it, if you are looking to pick up a trade/start a business, make it to where you are using others peoples capital to make money. You ever noticed the people that work 3 jobs, work 60 hrs, or are the best at their job always talk about how much they hate their job? Instead of spending 60 hrs a week to make 40k, why not cut back on your lifestyle and use the free time you have working 30-40 hrs and less to learn a skill that will net you the same money or more working less.

America gets us f8cked because we think making a certain amount of money = success. I would rather make 50k a yr take vacations when ever I want and work no more than 30 hrs a week than to make 100k, always stressed, working 60-80 hrs a week, and can't take time away for myself because I have so many deadlines. People are "grinding" so they can consume some bull ish more so than working towards getting to a position where life is easy which can allow them to take the money they do make and do side hustles and invest which ultimately will increase their net worth.

when you dont work smart you assume everyone who is making moves is working hard. How can you call something working hard if it doesn't take someone maximum effort to perform the task and achieve goals? If doing something comes easy or is easy to me how can I say I am working hard?
The people I see making moves are the ones putting in work. Your problem is your idea of hard work is overworking, stress, and no personal time. That's not what hard work is.

This is why I tell people find things they love or are good at. Dudes will say "I`m thinking about getting into IT" but dont like problem solving, or say they want to become a doctor but dont like science. :dahell:

Life is like Football, you have people who have to fight hard to compete and then you have people who are naturally gifted at the position they are in thus they put in less effort and out perform others.

Outside of practicing to get better in his craft for the NBA, y'all think Lebron James had to work hard in regular season HS games?

I started a new job 3 weeks ago and I love it, time goes by fast, always busy like how I like my work, every day is different as it's a hospital. I remember my old job, all i did was post on the coli all day long, keep looking at the clock, felt like I was aging. Finding somethign yu love doing :blessed: but even though its busy your not stressed out.

Life is so short I never get why people just work work work work. THroughout the years I can't even tell the amount of times I've come into work and so and so died, or so and so had a heart attack or their husband died at work etc., all this storing up your treasure when I'm old and retired bla bla no man is promised tomorrow.

I'm going on vacation next month and every 6 months I go somewhere, I refuse to be my friend my mom was telling me about who worked like a dog, ot, 12 hour shifts daily then when she retired she went on a cruise and died on the cruise of a heart attack, nah i'am enjoy life ight now :blessed:

The names and power quotes are irrelevant.

For the OP, no working hard isn't a scam.
:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

I will say this, Working Hard can pay off, but we are in a capitalistic world where people who are smarter than you will use your hard work as a stepping stone to get farther ahead than you. Especially if you go the route or working for someone, how does it feel to work 60 hr weeks for 10 yrs and get laid off? You need to put yourself first because at the end of the day overworking will kill you. Like I said before If you Do what you love you can never say you are working hard, so making less money and such isn't a factor as that comes with what you love, and to love what your doing means you accept everything that comes with it.

Lol at lazy ass nikkas taking the "work smart - not hard" thing and using it to justify not doing shyt. Newsflash, working for yourself requires a shyt load of hours, stress, and effort. On top of that, you don't have a guaranteed profit. Unless you were born into a wealthy family, NOBODY gets rich without putting in insane amounts of effort.

very well said. a business owner is plugged in 24/7.

You can work hard doing something you enjoy, and overworking doesn't equate to hard work..that is just overworking. But we're allowed to have differing opinions, everyone here doesn't have to agree on everything and it doesnt mean anyone is right or wrong.

Exactly, Im in a position now where I could go somewhere else and make more BUT why risk getting into a situation where I may have to put in more hours, have less flexibility, more stress? Especially when I dont plan on being a Career employee. Work is a partnership, I produce for my job and they give me what I need to invest and have capital for other ventures, and also provide training free or at least will help cover cost for skills I can use to help my company and for my own personal benefit. I will say never get comfortable in a role either because at the end of the day no matter how cool your job is, if they need to save money you can be let go. I always say every 2 yrs at a job examine where you currently stand and then if you are likely to be promoted and or stability of your situation. Especially as Black people in America, you are a damn fool working hard in a system that is literally meant to destroy you, you have to adapt and out smart the system because at the end of the day it is set up for you to fail.

Wow I see how people are pissed. Obsessed with working 60+ hours per week and having at least 2 jobs is "grinding" to bosses that don't give a damn about your free time is considered life.
